JFC indeed. Is a green pen not ever going to be upsetting, even after years of having everything marked in green? Red isn't inherently negative; corrections are.
But you have to like the name of the school mistress: Penny Penn-Howard.

My boxing instructor has a very thick Carribean accent and when he laughs (which he does at me a lot), he throws back his head and laughs like that big guy used to do on the 7 up commercials (I cannot remember his name). Anyway, the combination makes me more favorably disposed to him when he whacks me in the face. Makes him seem more laid-back and friendly or something.

that's probably the smartest thing you've ever said. IMO. Just noting for the eventual record.

They had the entire game live in the afternoon. The highlights sucked particularly because they used that ridiculous retreaded music that every action movie uses in its previews.
The worse bit of coverage was during the semifinal game when they took a commercial break and the first goal was scored. "While we were away, the U.S. scored" But we won't show you a highlight of the goal until half-time. Egad.
Again, the only solution is tivo. Thanks to it, I don't know a single thing about any US athlete, particularly their Crohn's disease-ridden moms, favorite pets, tribulations in high school, and other schmaltz.

I watched some rhythmic gymnastics last night. I have to admit they do some amazing things with the hoop and ball, but it still doesn't seem like a sport to me. It's like watching hackysack, only with eurotrash tights and bad music and without the groovy smoke to hold off the boredom.

Oh, please. You're vastly overestimating his genius. The posts on Episcopal Church politics weren't a hint? Also, I PM him racist jokes, but admittedly you wouldn't have known that. OR WOULD YOU?!?!

Untrue. Red represents the blood -- the very lifeforce of your paper -- running over at the violence performed at the hand of one's professor.
But, keep it. I love when the the Professor hands back papers (or leaves 'em in a stack by the door) and the kids who wouldn't shut up in class because they thought they knew everything realize that everyone has seen their work murdered.
TM
POLL: Are you a paper writer or a test-taker?
I hate tests. I've always been a paper writer. I can take tests and have always done quite well, but I think they're almost always stupid. Papers allow you to demonstrate what you know about a topic in your own way (shaped by how you can best spit back the professor's words when need be).

I watched some track and field events last night. And I realized that I'm done with the Olympics. I sat there thinking that I'd rather watch something else and was instead guiltily sitting there hating every minute of it. So I switched to one of the shows that Tivo recorded just for me (supposedly based on viewing habits, but totally not). Waking Up In Reno. Anyone ever seen this? Bad Billy Bob Thornton, Charleze Theron and Patrick Swayze movie. I ranked it as better than the Olympics, but that's not saying much.

Nor is synch swimming. It all belongs in cirque du soleil.
As for gymnastics, the federation is filled with the biggest batch of pussy-assholes in the world. First, they acknowledge a mistake and take their own sweet time to say nothing can be done. Then they say nothing can be done to award dual golds.
Now , unwilling to fix their own mistakes, they say Paul Hamm would be the ultimate sportsman if he were to give up his gold medal. Charming. I would never have thought the figure skating federation could be outdone.
