TECH HELP - Windows question

I need to upgrade my Windows ME on my home computer to XP before I go postal.

However, I wanted to inquire if anyone can offer any compelling reasons why I should get the Professional as opposed to the Home version, because I'd definitely like to save the 100 bucks. Anyone?

I have the home version and it is okely-dokely with me! In fact, I really like it. (I only recently upgraded my dinosaur of a computer to the current millenium.)

I did this within the last few months (well, someone who loves me but doesn't always say so* did it for me). I (he) did the Home Version (but I bought it myself, because I'm all empowered and employed and shit). Seems to work great. Just make sure you get compatible antivirus stuff and get it up and running fast because bastards are continually bombarding home computers with trojan horses and such even if no internet page is up (assuming DSL connection or the like). I had problems with the Norton antivirus/firewall and XP setup, but it is all set up now.

*I'm not complaining. He says so plenty. But probably not more than once per month for those keeping tally.

I got the Professional edition. As I recall there were a few extras like Bookshelf and Access that didn't come with consumer. But the difference in price wasn't $100, so it wasn't like it was a huge decision to step up.

From my own personal tech geek:

The Professional Version does not have as much of the Microsoft spyware, so if that's important to you . . .

But that's about it.

What are you complaining about? ii leaves your pimp hand with more cash.

A. Less intrusive reporting to MS from the Pro version.

B. If you do any html writing, or site design, go Pro.

C. If you share or interface data between programs a lot, go Pro.

Otherwise, save the $.

In Philly, that means kissing below the waist.

A friend can get a great deal on Jos A Banks suits.

Home is neutered in many respects. You have much less control over things like networking, file sharing, and security. If you plan on running a network in your home, stick with Pro. if you don't car, go with Home. Also, Home supposedly has more MS spyware in the code, if that matters to you.

You're talking about Jesus, right? Because, as leagl pointed out, you should just know this. He shouldn't have to tell you; the Bible tells you so.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether this is worth checking out? Is it just Bobby unplugged or is it a rockin show? I note that Bobby is starting to resemble Jerry. Whoa, meta.
