I may be repeating this observation. I'm having deja vu.

I think of [The] Talbots as a place to buy mannish suits with those little ties that businesswomen of the 80s would wear. Perfectly awful.
Your description is spot-on.

That was incredibly taxing to pump out. I promise I will post his response if I remember to ask him though.

Good Lord. Everyone knows what group this is. You go ahead and wait for an invitation based on outdated rules of good manners that only you are aware of or care about.

As to Finelli, one would likely point out that they need to differentiate "Finellis & Sons" from the other "Finellis" enterprises.
The all-too-common misuse that gets me lately is "try and" as in "I will try and deliver that to you tomorrow".

I admit that I say Nordstrom's. I am aware of it too (thanks, Mr. Man!). I think it comes from growing up with Macy's. Or Macy*s, if you prefer.

When it becomes popular usuage, does it stop becoming a mistake? This placeholder for the old Marshall Field website, for example, refers to it as Marshall Fields.

I mostly concur. Most of it is frump city, and the rest is as boring as my etiquette disputes with TM, but it is well put together, and, if you find something that does work, it will serve you well for a very, very long time.
"Brooks Brothers of women's clothing" is a pretty apt description. I might take issue with "well cut" (on the grounds that something well cut is unlikely to be dumpy), but it is pretty much the definition of classic conservative. My main interview suit from LS was a charcoal flannel from Talbots, and I still have it. That's going back to '95. It's as fashionable now (or not) as it was then. My grandmother could have worn it in the '30s or '40s, my mother in the '70s or '80s, and I'd wager my daughter will be able to wear it, too ... though hopefully she won't have to.

Yesterday I noticed that Wikipedia has entries for beer pong and quarters under its drinking game section, but no section for the viking game. I see an opportunity for authorship.
I was actually looking up "beer pong" because I have never played that and I didn't know what it was all about (apart from what I can guess from the name). It is a purely American game and never crossed the border. Weird that. We played quarters, though. And other games.
