I took my first computer programming course in 1981 - but since it was BASIC I'm pretty confident that doesn't count.

I'm frequently ahead on various fashion "trends," but first 1%? I'm pretty sure not. And anyway, that has more to do with my diligently sticking to what I like and think looks good rather than any prescience on my part - just about everything with any redeeming qualities is in and out of fashion fairly regularly.

Oh, God, yes. We're talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

Question, based on the rest of the world's population...how many people would it take to not be in the 1%?

What about Pabst Blue Ribbon? Same deal?

Ok, the yoga discussion reminded me of a question I have been meaning to ask. I was going to do this anonymously, but what the hey -- I mean, the FB is a warm, welcoming home.

I have apparently reached what paigow (paraphrasing DS, I think) has coined the "ass or face moment" of my life. Yes, I need to exercise.

So, since I am an ignoramous, I want to have someone tell me what to do and when to do it. But I don't want to just place my trust in some random bozo at the local Gold's Gym franchise -- or do I? I could ask around for recommendations, but the few people I know who work out regularly are either jerks or have been doing it long enough that they don't use a trainer anymore.

How does one go about finding a trainer? Is there some sort of licensing or certification one should have? Or should I just head over to Curves and try to get into the spin classes?

Or paraphrasing Catherine Deneuve -- same difference.

Click on Tools in the toolbar. Click on Internet Options. Click on Clear History. Then click on OK. If you find yourself needing to do this a lot, set up Days in History to be 0.

You probably want to clean out your cache too. Tools-->Internet Options-->Delete Files-->OK-->OK.

Well, now that's an interesting question. For the computer thing, I was sort of assuming "US" was the relevant universe. For clothing, I was sort of assuming it was "people who'd care."

Huh.

Dude, the chicks in those BYO joints probably just graduated from training bras. Cut them some slack.

Reason #56 I don't go to strip clubs.

Most gym trainers are a bunch of punk ass ne'er do wells that can't fidn something better to do. Be very selective when picking one from a gym. As an anecdote, my neighbor's first wife got addicted to crack with her first trainer. I guess that was a great weight loss program, but at what price? You might try looking into one of htose programs like the Sargeants program that would be much cheaper than joining a gym.

If you never change you inevitably find yourself in the 1% from time to time. Its inescapable. You're a hipster.

You strike me as someone who would care about this, so you might not want to go to Curves. The guy who owns it is a very heavy contributor to Operation Save America (a successor to Operation Rescue). 10 percent of Curves profits go to anti-abortion groups.

http://www.operationsaveamerica.org/...central-tx.htm (for just one example)

Word of mouth is generally how I've vetted personal trainers in the past.

I believe Curves is also just for women, so that might be a threshold issue why he wouldn't want to go there as well. (unless not Bob is really not Roberta and has been tricking us)
