Actually, when I ask for a cup (they are almost always right there in front of you in those situations where the cup is handed to you) they think it's funny. Maybe I'm just more approachable than nfh. Or live in places with friendlier people.

BTW, who cares what's in the firm fridge as long as there are enough catered conferences? I could never understand why the catering brought about 5 cookies per person. But, having an office near a main conference room, I never questioned it openly.
