Don't bother asking Bilmore to defend his argument that Bush's tax cut helped most people. He can't. He can't explain why the little guy cares about anything other than how much they're effective tax rate is reduced, and given that people are envious, how much rich people's effective tax rates are cut. Simple as pie. Bilmore's stats are red herring, that aren't even pickled well.

I thought he was very effective. More passion than I've ever seen from him.

Twice every four years, I wish I had a working TV with cable. It's just not the same, reading as other people describe speeches.

this may be the most ridiculous thing ever said on these boards. And that is saying something, Newt.

Cleary I was right to stay away from this board for so long when even Slave and Bilmore wanted face basic fact. Look, maybe he got a good deal on his medal, but he wasn't drafted, so he was there as a "volunteer."

P.S. I don't think Kerry ever said Bush was AWOL. It was the rest of the literate public.

a. No deferment. Joined the safe, offshore, branch. Then, joined another safe, offshore branch. Said "I didn't want to fight." Oops, mission changed.

b. Kerry's crew has spent the last year screaming about Bush, the National Guard, missing days, etc. Go read his official website even now. Then, cry me a river.

c. This was the wrong post in which to include the word "literate". (Okay, that was cheap. But fun.)

Marginalia

Look this week for an announcement that I will form a group called White House Neighbors for Truth. We will soon be airing ads coming declarations from 13 individuals who will say, "I lived with President Bush. President Bush lied about the preztel incident."

Our message will be about as well founded as those of the "swift boat veterans."

In other news, Edwards is on Nightline right now criticizing Bush for saying, of all things, that the wae on terror might not be winnable. I love partisan politics as much as the next guy, but it is fucking pathetically bittersweet that the Dems are now going to be running around critizing Bush for finally saying something truthful and honest.

Just goes to show how simple-minded those who are directly involved in politics are. This is totally not a winning issue for the Dems, but they caught the president in an "inconsitancy." Let's all jump on it and lend the president and air of subtlety and sophistication.

"joined" means wasn't compelled or drafted, right? That's all I am saying. Not saying he was gund ho to go to war. Don't think anyone has said he was. Nor was or is any sane human being.

Really? What about the commander on JFK's boat? Scroll backward and read bilmore's post from yesterday.

Puts him in the same light as Bush. Both actively sought "safe" slots. What Kerry chose was a safe slot, marginally less safe than Bush's, but not that much, plus he got a shorter time in exchange for the margin. It was only bad luck that changed his slot with no warning, and put him inside the borders.

And I was going to mention several of my old friends who WERE gung-ho for it, but then saw the picky little condition you placed on your statement.
