Because more goes into the equation than color, ass bait. There are a number of reasons, including power dynamics between men and women (actual and perceived). There are fewer black women in these types of positions as there are black men as well.

Look, your problem is that you want to throw everything into one big category. Does society value a European beauty ethic above all others? Yez. Have many of us internalized this beauty ideal? Of course. But don't shut out every other factor to draw one absolute conclusion about a person you don't know shit about. Because it's a waste of everyone's time.

I'm a black woman and I don't really give a shit about who anyone but my boyfriend is dating. I date whoever I want and I think everyone should do the same. That said, I think that Not Me made some good points. Black people as a whole do internalize racism. Our idea of what is beautiful is determined by what we've been taught to think. I think in large part, it is subconscious. This can manifest it self in how we choose our mates but also in other ways. To make myself clear, I don't think that every time a black man marries a white woman, it's because of self-loathing issues but I don't think that so many black women would have a problem with it if it wasn't a real issue. The problem is that black women focus on this issue too much. I don't hear people complaining about why dark black people resent lighter black people or why light skinned people think they're better nearly enough. I think this is more of problem than interracial marriages. The issue that needs to be addressed is not "we're losing all our good men." The real issue is that we hate ourselves and need to figure out how to fix it.

I've dealt with all these issues. From "we're losing all our good men" to "high yellah thinks he's better than dark-skinned" to "educated nigger ain't no better than me." ALL of it is a product (to a certain extent) of self-hatred and societal values we have internalized. That is understood.

Breaking down someone you don't know because he dates a really, really white woman is stupid, shallow and as offensive as when people force ugly stereotypes on someone because of their skin color. It's not the same as "fixing issues of self-hatred." It's a shallow exercise in lame assumptions.

Sorry, but no. Jennifer Aniston's father was Greek, born in Crete of a Greek father and an Egyptian mother.
