FYI, a google search of the terms "Joe Namath Pantyhose" brings up a whole lot of porn.

I am not alone
A fellow board legend and belovedly prolific poster, PLF, has asked me to weigh in with his outrage of the unwarranted trashing of JoeWillie. In furtherance of the same, I hereby post this snippet of an IM exchange I recently had with the Flower on this very same subject:
penske_account: the board is now attacking football great
penske_account: Joe Namath
penske_account: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
penske_account: a travesty
penske_account: blasphemy
penske_account: iyw
p_l_flower: iw
p_l_flower: No time to check
p_l_flower: But please weigh in with my outrage
penske_account: I knew you would
penske_account: thanks
p_l_flower: Broadway Joe deserves better
penske_account: I will do so
p_l_flower: Let them know I said so
Take that you evil blasphemers!

And yet that site is all about gay advertising? In whose world is that considered gay advertising? Joe's not gay. Most if not all of the gay men I know do not wear pantyhose. What's the deal?

Unless it's the Butthole Surfers cover. Or maybe that was ten years ago.

Like the Flower, I dig the nubile spinning hippy chicks with the acid twinkle in their eyes.

Hurdy Gurdy qualifies as dark acid music. Other tunes in this genre include Zeppelin's "How Many more Times", Janes' "Three Days", most of the Doors' catalog, Traffic's "Low Spark" and "Gimme Shelter" and a lot of early primal Dead (when they still played fast). This is perfect music for riding acid from daylight into evening or evening into early morning. I agree, its not spinning music at all. For spinning you need Allmans, 70s Dead, Widespread, Phish, etal... That said, the best psychedelic memory I have is watching freaks dance in the parking lot behind the fraternity house while "How Many More Times" chugged throught the bose 901s just as the sun was setting. Bands like Phish lack the violent edge that darker shit like Zeppelin or even some old indulgent Doors bootleg gave to the scene. Hell, my favorite acid mix was to throw Anthem of the Sun, Let it Bleed, Brothers and Sisters, The Apocalypse Now Soundtrack and The Velvet Underground Live Vol. 1 into the cd changer. Cliche? Yep, but it always set the scene perfectly. Even now, when I've got a head full of the heavy stuff I need some strong guitar rock to put an edge on things. No metal or grunge, mind you - just some classic heavy rock.

Speaking of spinning trippy people
I saw possibly the last Jane's Addiction show last Friday. They cancelled their remaining show this year and all scheduled 2004 shows and are taking a hiatus while they determine whether or not they hate each other enough to cut off the flow of drug cash generated by touring.
Perry Farrell was definitely high.

Going out on a limb here, but I suspect that Paigow feels equally at communion with me at the beginning of her posts as at the end of her posts.

Perry? HIgh? Whoda thunk it?
Jane's April 1989 Moore Theater Seattle; probably the best show I've ever seen. And Sebby, Jane's at their peak was the ultimate heavy acid music. I was questioning my decision to dose during the opening band, but once Jane's came on, it was unreal.
Did they still sound okay last week? I saw them once in 91 (I think) where Perry and Dave were both pretty out of it, but Perkins and Eric A. still made it worthwhile.

speaking of high
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has signed a contract to play with the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Association in an attempt to revive his career. Terms of Rodman's contract with the Jam were not released. ABA guidelines limit a franchise's player payroll to a total of $120,000 per season.
Rodman is obligated to play the rest of the season unless he is called on by an NBA team offering a contract, Chase said.
"If we're the springboard that he uses to showcase that his ability (to play in the NBA) is still there, then it's a win-win situation for Dennis, for us and for the fans in Long Beach," Chase told the Press-Telegram.
What Carmen Electra ever saw in him...I just don't know.
still ugly after all these years

Hurdy Gurdy Man qualifies as The Archies on reds. Please don't compare D to real acid writers.

They sounded very good. The only annoying part of the show was when Perry went into a 20 minute song/speech about Jesus Christ and the meaning of the holidays, etc.
Heard on the radio today that they apparently cut the show by about a half hour. Didn't notice it at the time, partially b/c they were on as headliners of a multiple band show.
Farrell must weigh about 110. Guess the heroin is an effective weight-loss device.

Good Ads
Microsoft's "Great Moments at Work" ads would be somewhat amusing but for the annoying fact that they make reference to some event being a "Cinderella story".
No longer is anything involved with Microsoft a Cinderella story. Godzilla, maybe. Cinderella, never. Evil.
Da (Can you tell that I spent an hour wrestling with Windows XP before giving up and calling tech support over the weekend?) ve

Are you kidding? Juarez is over a million population, a gigantic den of debauchery. The Zona Rosa there is infamous. There are actually bus tours that bring down horndogs from major Texas cities for weekend excursions to the "Boy's Town" of Juarez, as it is known.
Price is in every bit as much trouble at UTEP as he would be at USD, and maybe moreso, since he doesn't have to deal with the Catholic administration of a small private school.
