Stop with the glum and doom. His wife is probably just dating someone who's handy around the house. That would also explain the cat being gone- a real man like that wouldn't put up with a cat being underfoot.

My other guess was that the wind had unkinked the water tube when it shifted the trailer back into position, but I wanted to wait until someone else insulted him first.

Is that what you told him when he mentioned your fly was open? If not, it should have been. (Of course, you would have had to omit the "back then" and "still" but I'm sure it would have killed.)

lastminutetravel.com has flights to London, I believe. I don't know how good they are.
