The upside down Christmas tree neighbors are a gay couple and this describes one of them perfectly. Except that he doesn't sneer at my gardening abilities. He's too polite to sneer at the hapless. But he has more than a green thumb. He can even grow plants that are not recommended this far north.
As to growing exotic shit....he grows castor beans which apparently have only recently come off a banned plants list. They're highly toxic and I think they make ricin from the seeds.
His partner is in real estate and is like the gay Angie's List.
