Martindale now asks you to be paid for a listing, correct? and this was not always the case back in the day? does that not create a conflict of interest with their rating system, i.e. av etc.?

I second the laid-back beachy thing. There used to be a bunch of really nice restaurants in Laguna back when I lived in LA. Don't know if that's the case anymore, but it was always a good place to go for a celebration.

RT, what is the likelihood of that happening? He also mentioned that the Houston long-snapper snapped the ball over the punter's head and into the end zone for a SD touchdown on Sunday. Yikes.
I recommend St. Elmos for dinner.

Remember, years back, when we were young and innocent and actually took a cold call from a life insurance salesman or stockbroker?

And remember when that same salesman called again? And again? And Again? It seems like just yesterday.

so basically, J Fred is calling me pathetic for being over qualified for my job? So the girl here from Columbia is uber pathetic or the dude from brown? I'm not super duper proud of my job but I don't think I'm pathetic.
No, I'm calling you pathetic for being so proud of your degree and your husband's inability to finish law school. I'm guessing that your degree-granting institution didn't have a reading comprehension or logic exam as an exit requirement, did they?

Sadly it is booked solid for the entire weekend (Mr Man checked this morning). We should have planned our meals sooner. We're stuck with Shula's, I guess.

I am proud of my degree, but not for the reasons you'd think.

I put myself through school so yes, I am proud of overcoming socio-economic adversity and graduating. I come from a very blue collar family and am the first to go to college.

I am proud of my husband because he's super smart and realized he hated the law and walked away to raise his kids. I don't think he can be faulted for following his heart.

If you think that's pathetic, then fine.

I don't check in here very often anymore, but every time I do, you're one of the last few posters.

I would really like to get a better cross-sample of posters on my random visits, and at the rate you're posting, the entire U.S. lawyer billable hours would be in the tanker if they tried to catch up to you...so could you please stop posting so much so I can actually see some posts by the original GA's without having to look back ten pages?

TIA

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

Oh, was that supposed to be an art thing? I was pretty far out of my head that evening. But how about my fabulous shirt!

2. More pathetic--Guy with doctorate who holds same gas station job.

3. Even more pathetic--Guy with doctorate who holds same job, but is proud that his wife couldn't finish law school.
4. Most pathetic--Listing "Order of the Coif" on your resume or bio when you're over 40.

5. Most mostest pathetic--Thinking she's going to fuck your bald, 5'4 self if you get a 911.

I tell you this. In ten years of practice and having worked in 5 different areas of law and with lawyers from huge firms down to the lowest PI bottom feeders, on the balance, with the exception of the people here, who are the exception to the rule in the industry, generally I'd talk to a gas station attendant over a lawyer every day of the week.
