I can't taste any difference between Equal and Splenda. Splenda is OK on Atkins, but Equal (Nutrasweet) isn't.

One of the problems with this board is that it is impossible to view threads, and therefore, to catch up.

Thus, once one mises a day, one cannot catch up. I would prefer a threading like this:

Everyone wants to go to Europe in the summer. High demand = high prices.

I'm going our of town (sadly not to London) and intended to leave by 10 a.m. Naturally I get a call at home from a client I haven't heard from since mid-January and he has a document he really really needs me to look at before Monday. Grrr. He's going to have to talk to me while I finish packing.
Spyware is software the acts benign (toolbar, screen saver, etc.) but, in the background, sends information about you, your computer, and your computer use back to whomever wrote and/or distributed the code. Dangerous stuff, as it can theoretically be used to launch DOS attacks from your computer, and the like.

Spyware is actually a great way to defeat a firewall, because once it is installed on the computer (and is therefore behind the firewall) it can operate with impunity without triggering the firewall's defenses.

The bottom line is DO turn on the security features that require prompting before installing new software and don't EVER install something on your machine unless you know where it came from.

How do you find the spyware once it's there? From my home PC, I just created a new email address at yahoo and ended up with yahoo shit all over the place -- especially a yahoo toolbar in IE -- without clicking ok for any programs. My security features are turned on (oh, yeah, baby). Does yahoo use, plant, or enable spyware? And how do I prevent moving that crap when I get a new computer and transfer some files (but not any programs) to the new hard drive?

I'll copy this post to thetech geek board so we don't clog the FB on what I hope will be a fun friday

So, we can expect a new robustpuppy sock in the near future?

You'll have something similar once the upgrade is done, whenever that will be.

First, I think it's funny that you use that website.

Second, we will probably have a threaded view option if and when the vbulletin software is updated and stable. basically, posts in a main thread will be threaded (nested) under the post they are responding to. Don't hold your breath, though. It could be years out.

The reason we've kept this single thread format on the FB is to promote the free-flowing discussion format that used to be on the infirm boards. We want people reading the stuff they may not think they're interested in. When you have a different thread for each conversation, it breaks down the free-for-all community feel as people start picking and choosing which threads to read and respond to. We do let people create their own threads on the regional boards, because those are more information-sharing forums, rather than community building (sustaining?) forums like this one.

And personally, I think it's pretty easy to catch up. Just like on the old boards, I just go pack a page or two and start reading. Yeah, I don't hit everything, but I get enough of a taste to know what was discussed the previous day.

Not that you care or anything, but I vastly prefer this way (which I guess is single thread format) to the format Pony is suggesting.

And I don't really handle change very well. It makes me vomit.

A beautiful day

Today we not only have a Coen bros movie coming out (that appears to lack John Goodman and John Turturro sadly), but we have a Ben Affleck fiasco. I have only read one review of Jersey Girl, but the NYT was probalby more scathing than it was with Gigli. Wheeeee! Is his career over yet?

I was chatting with a former board member who indicated that em and a couple of others didnt transition over here bc it is imposssible to find threads of interest and also that if you click on this board, you might get bounched back to an old board (I didnt follow this exactly but I think em clicked on "fashion" ) so em bagged. which is too bad. given that the infirm boards are dead, it seems that the flow of inormation about firms and the ensuing perks has been stymied. so the firms won with their little orwellian crackdown via west.

If you haven't seen Gigli, you really shouldn't comment on it.

Fortunately the upgrade enables each user to choose how to look at the board, so those of you fond of this version will not be forced to change how you read the board. Those who prefer a combination of pure threaded and this version can use that, and those who prefer a pure threaded version can use that.

Again, assuming they ever finish the damn thing.

Edited to add that I see that vbulletin has finally released the Gold (final) version of its upgrade. Vbportal has released one too, so we can start looking into the upgrade. However we need Vbportal to come out with a stable release candidate first.

Look here for a thread http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98193

If you click on the upper right where it reads "Display Modes" you can see what each of the different modes look like.

Anything more than that, and it's a sickness. Well, a really serious sickness.
