Glad I don't work by the hour anymore.

Oh damn, I almost forgot. When I woke up this morning I had a discussion with my wife about how to handle this problem. Here's the skinny:

My wife is friends with this girl from highschool. She and her husband and child like to invite themselves to stay at our place when they come to town. Well, maybe that's a bit harsh. They do give us the chance to respond.

The last time they stayed with us, it was a complete nightmare. After that, my wife and I agreed we would never let them stay with us again.

Well, they've just called and asked to stay with us again. My wife is waffling on our promise to tell these people they can't stay with us. She doesn't want to hurt her friend's feelings and, after all, "it's just for one night."

So, my first question is how do I get my wife to stick to our agreement? And second, if she agrees that this couple should not stay, how do we tell them off without hurting their feelings (the quality of your answers to the second question may directly impact my ability to get my wife to agree on the first issue).

Thanks.

P.S. you guys owe me a couple responses now that I fixed your toy. get to it.
Just tell them, "something suddenly came up."

Nice work on fixing this place.

Your problem is so easy to solve, it isn't even a problem. Tell them you have friends crashing at your place already over a three day period doing wedding stuff (or a college buddy is in town interviewing -- whatever, it doesn't matter). Tell them you'd love to meet up at some point, but your friends have taken over the living space so you'll need to meet them out. Your wife should be so happy with this solution that you shouldn't have to convince her to stick to her agreement. If she's being unreasonable, pm sunnybunny immediately to ask what kind of bribe to buy.

he couldn't get it even close to zipped up, and his sister was way too big to model it, yet it's the ex-wife who was huge. interesting.

between MR's gratuitous use of the word "skinny" and your "Fatty Pride" comment, I would think that today is bash the non-lollipop-head people day.

but maybe it is. i can never keep track.

Sometimes it's not a blessing. I'm sorry.

The only context I can think of your enormous beer gut being a blessing is maybe as cushioning in a car crash.

Well, there appears to be a silver lining to the board outage--Tyrone has apparently been deleted. Wiped from history. Oh the horror!

Ty, if you're still out there, best of luck finding new friends in the ether of the internet.

I was trying to find something positive to say. The huge gut and lack of any discernable ass are problems. The lack of a neck and the lack of hair are not really pluses either. The fact that you have turned up the bottoms of the shorts is inexplicable and bad. The age spots are bad. The watch I don't like, but that might just be me. In the picture, the belt doesn't look so bad but IRL you can see that it has "COLTRANE" tooled into the back. The worn flipflops on your fungus-ridden toes were really the worst of the lot, but you have (wisely) cropped the picture.

The shorts are not that bad.

ETA the moustache-like thing is also ill-advised.

Edited again to fix hyphenation.

I had him taken out. His last action was sending me a nasty PM about my bad taste in Montreal yogurt. That kind of talk doesn't bode well with me.

Sorry for crashing the board in the process. I figured MR was slacking off these days anyway. (two birds, one stone etc.)

Is that some type of code? Sounds sexy.
