They should do so, and that's all well and good. It's just interesting to note that these "most popular" GOP figures are ones who tend to disagree with the party platform on some of the more controversial social issues (e.g. I think all except McCain are pro-choice). The party is in line on this "big tent" issue now, though, and everyone is keeping quiet on differences (as are the Dems).

If you recall, Powell was booed by the delegates at the 2000 GOP convention when he spoke about the big tent and mentioned his position on abortion rights.

It's harder for us than it is for youse guyz to try to match speakers to our positions on issues, mostly because we have positions on issues.

( Couldn't resist.)

Didn't I acknowledge that in my post? I too heard that hidden fact (per Bauer) about the delegates' position on the War in Iraq -- while watching the coverage on CNN _and_ when listening to NPR. I bet FNC pointed it out too.

What more does Bauer want? Just part of the continued VRWC to discredit the "mainstream" media (Bilmore Baggins, Esq., Of Counsel).

I'd be glad to help with the scheduling. For example, I'd bet these guys all could make time for a quick speech: Delay; Armey; Gingrich; Buchanan; Bauer; Keyes; Robertson.

If you'd like my Rolodex, just let me know.

You avoid (intentionally, maybe?) my semi-humorous point.

Is it Kerry the Ultra-Lib, or is it Kerry the Moderate, or is it Kerry The WarHawk?

If it's Tuesday . . .

How about some prime-time action for Sharpton, Jesse, Barney Frank, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Kucinich, Soros and Streisand?

Or anybody pro-life for that matter...

Hopefully, you read a later post that points out that the demonization, while not the goal of the outers, is essentially what happens in the eyes of lots of people. All they're gonna see is, he had to quit because it got out that he was gay. I submit that the effect of that is a demonization because of his gayness.
If the subsequent demonization by his constituency (and your party) is the fault of those who outed him, the demonization of all other gay people is their own fault for coming out of the closet.

Funny how you reject the unintended consequences of voting for the GOP's anti-gay platform, but you would have gay activists eat the unintended consequences of seeking to have their lifestyle seen as normal and commonplace by pointing out that beloved Patch leaders are gay, too.

I admire Arnold's accomplishments, but Jesus, he did a movie where A SINGLE MAN GAVE BIRTH TO A BABY, and they're letting him speak at the convention of the same party that condemned Murphy Brown.

That's pretty good. Maybe Arnold's writers will see this and work it into a later speech, together with a reference to Kindergarten Cop to explain the GOP education policy.

You're welcome to any of them (except we'll keep Soros), but I think all your slots are filled.

P.S. to Bilmore: Yes, it was intentional. I just can't talk about that anymore. Look, it would be very easy for me to be against John Kerry, but I just can't be _for_ George W. Bush and his team, not to mention the GOP luminaries I listed (which list includes the folks whose presence and influence kept me from supporting Bush I, for whom I had much more respect than I do for his son).

I'm sure they will. They're not shy about that. "Terminate terrorism" and "economic girly men." So cheesy, but some how he pulls it off.

As always, you're too negative. Aren't you forgetting the intense committment to family displayed by his Howie Langston or say Dr. Victor Fries.
