How Orwellian of you!
With that and with the campaign against McCain in South Carolina in 2000, one would be tempted to see a pattern. But Lord knows Candide (err Bush) would have nothing to do with anything like that. Perhaps there is more to Pangloss (err Rove) than meets the eye.

What I have to say to a minimum-wage worker is "Go back to school, you dumb fuck! I'll help you go to your local community college and get an education for the jobs of the 21st-Century."

I'm still not sure why he didn't take two minutes to explain that anyone with Econ 101 knows you don't screw with the minimum wage unless employment is "full".

What I have to say to a minimum-wage worker is "I will raise the minimum wage. It will mean that there are less jobs, but if you are lucky enough to get one you will be paid more.

Oh, I agree. But I think that the "compassionate conservative" label will not be as readily believed by voters this time around. I also think that there has been a greater effort this year to mobilize the gay vote and have that demographic be relevant to the election. Glen Maxey, the only openly gay member of the Texas Legislature in history, for example, was the chair of the Dean For Texas campaign, and Dean had people out specifically canvassing on gay issues. That made all the other Dems scramble for the gay vote.
BTW, according to Maxey, this was a statement Bush made to him on the floor of the legislature after Maxey kicked Bush's ass over CHIP funding in Texas: "I value you as a person, and I value you as a human being, and I want you to know, Glen, that what I say publicly about gay people doesn’t pertain to you." Bush denied he made the statement.

A typical worker would only have to work for two days, tax-free, to be able to afford a ticket to see his show.

I think I've been to something like 10 Springsteen shows. The tickets weren't any more expensive than, say, a Tim McGraw show, and certainly less than George Strait at the Rodeo.
