I went to a school about 26 miles from your house (or, at least, from your local diner, not knowing where your house is) - and about the same distance from my own. 10 miles may be too close, for all concerned.
There are two really good schools within 7 miles of my house, and while it may be too close, I wouldn't cross them off the list for being too close. Anyway, I would never send them to boarding school if they didn't want to go (unless they turn into complete jerks -- and even if they do, I probably won't think so). They could go as day students I suppose (though I suspect after a year of that, they'd want to board).

If you breathe the stuff day in day out, then you might get mesothelioma, but you would also get cancer if you breathe gas fumes everyday."

Bullshit. The danger of chrysotile asbestos has been severely understated by insurance companies and their brainwashed everywhere. The canadian chrsyotile industry has given up.

There is no safe limit for asbestos. Any asbestos.

However, the likelihood of developing mesothelioma from walking through an area where a single insulated pipe exploded in a cloud of wet steam is very low. In fact it is probably lower than being stabbed in the face through the internet.

In addition, while I would love nothing better than to stand on the corner of 41st and Lex in a respirator and moon suit handing out business cards so as to ensure the likelihood (also slim) of being able to send my kid to boarding school, I must inform you that even though once you are exposed there is nothing you can do to prevnt mesothelioma, there is absolutely no recourse under New York law until you are diagnosed.

My neighbor near me is a teacher and his kid just got accepted to Westminster. He is pretty happy about that.

It's not because, despite your protestations to the contrary, you really want to have six musical babies?

Are you sure? My throat feels a little scratchy this morning. And my fear of developing mesothelioma is causing me sleeplessness and anxiety, and could impede my earnings potential. Know any plaintiff's lawyers?

Of course, you read before my edit. Also, it takes between 10 and 50 or so years to develop. I think he'll be out of school by then.

Oh. Well all the steam made it really muggy on my way home, and it totally messed up my hair. Any money in that?

I suspect it's because she knows that Edelweiss is really all about the anal sex.

All the songs in Sound of Music are about the anal sex. We've discussed this before. Pay attention.

I forget things.

Does being disoriented all the time lately about what city I'm in mean (a) I'm really settling into LA, (b) it's time to move again, (c) I'm crazy or (d) other (specify)?
