What are they now? 50? They have no right to go on with their careers while I'm not paying attention. Next thing you'll be telling me that Joe Carter has retired.

I was chuffed to see that some former hockey player from Manitoba apparently hits very well.

Thus ends my first and hopefully only post ever about baseball.
I was surprised to learn that Borders was still playing, too, but I read a story a while back that said he's actually getting some significant playing time as their backup catcher. I think he's 43 or so. And yes, Joe Carter has retired.

Please translate. What does chuffed mean?

It was worth it just to see the word "chuffed."

ARod.

Not Rivera's fault.
Posada, sometimes, can't catch.
Learn to block the plate.

I think the passed ball, wild pitch rules need some work. As it is now, if the ball hits the dirt, it's a wild pitch. But, jesus. If you're Posada and you call for a pitch that often breaks low and hits the dirt, why do you stay in your crouch when it does so? You have to get down and keep the damn ball in front of you. This happens way too often with him. Twice last night. The first, put a runner on that scored after he struck out. The second could have cost us the game.

I thought Nathan did a great job against us. They stretched him with three innings, but I can't say I blame them. He was cruising before that point.

Great game, though.

From an online dictionary:
http://english2american.com/dictionary/c.html#chuffed

chuffed adj. Someone who describes themselves as being chuffed is generally happy with life.

Two things.

1. I will admit that she vastly improved as she got more popular. But take a look at her in the first few seasons. She really was hideous and I can't wipe that from my mind no matter how much she later starved herself or caked on the makeup.

2. I hated her character. How many different ways can they think of for her to say, "Mulder, your theory just isn't plausible. I mean, it goes against the very laws of physics." She was repeating this mantra after she had seen the craziest, unexplainable shit possible. She was always in trouble. Bleh.

I understand she had to be Duchovny's straight man, but I thought her character added very little overall.

No kidding. I'm going to have to start adding to my hockey dvd collection which currently consists only of this:

Either that or watch baseball, soccer or football and pretend in my head that they're actually playing on ice.

And there's always curling. Long live Fox Sports world or whatever that soccer/rugby/curling/cricket channel is.

Although I would love to respond in haiku, I think that it would take too long.

Posada didn't deliver the pitch that turned into a ground-rule double. The Yankees are lucky that the wall in left is so short.

But I don't "blame" Rivera, either. I don't think that he was ready to pitch when he entered the game in the 8th -- he wasn't up in the bullpen warming up very long, and he looked gooooood in the 9th (which suggests to me that he needed some more time).

And, yes, you did win. That's the bottom line.

{smack!} That was the sound of my palm hitting my forehead -- I forgot about the whole lockout thingy. I was wondering why the absence of chuffiness about the hockey season -- I just figured the fans had ants in their pants for it to get started, because it was about to begin. The scales have fallen.

Thank you.

Ah. No wonder this term was unfamiliar.

In that case, ice up a case of Blue and I'll bring over Volumes 1-11 and 13-15.

Yes, I know who Don Cherry is, etc, etc. All I'm saying is that with a cover like that, it SHOULD be.

I didn't know Cheney had a dog. Hell, I didn't even know he was a hockey fan.
