Things That Suck

Quote:
ELWOOD, Indiana (AP) -- A man who won $57,000 in an Indiana lottery game taped for television died hours later after being hit by a pickup truck.

The "Hoosier Millionaire" featuring Carl D. Atwood, 73, was broadcast Saturday night after his family said they wanted the show to go on, Hoosier Lottery director Jack Ross said.

Great Moments in History

The Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919 remembered in museum exhibit

I'm pretty sure they didn't talk about that one in high school U.S. history. Too bad. I would have liked to have done a diorama of a thirty foot wave of molasses.

Does anyone else find these ads incredibly annoying? And/or the ads for Direct TV that have various actors that I might otherwise like doing dramatic readings of letters to Direct TV?

Cool. It's on time delay. Look in the middle right part of the left top corner end behind the guy in the red hat in front of the ladders.

I'm waving to you.

(Now, that's reality TV.)

I think my Tivo might be pissed off at me or something.

I'm pretty sure I've expressed this opinion previously, but "Are You Being Served?" calls into serious question every other achievement of the English-speaking world.

It is enough to make one take up kayaking.

That is all.

Lesbian Selling Virginity on Ebay

Either she is no lesbian, or she is no virgin. One of the two.

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Cash-strapped lesbian auctions her body to help pay for her university tuition fees

Student is selling her virginity on the internet for £10,000

By Holly Jarvis

A STUDENT is so hard up she has decided to make the ultimate sacrifice ...she is selling her virginity to the highest bidder on the internet.

So far more than 400 men, many of them sickos, have placed bids offering 18-year-old Rosie Reid up to £10,000 for sex.

The drastic action has left Rosie's parents sickened. Her doctor dad has told her she "is selling her soul". Her nurse mum is outraged.

And Rosie is even willing to sleep with a man despite it being abhorrent to her—she is a LESBIAN.

But she would rather prostitute herself than see her studies suffer.

The person who would impugn kayaking would likely be the sort of fellow who would strangle kittens.

Nah. That's just witch-doctor Dean making an animal sacrifice in front of his cult.

That cat is hideously deformed. Sad. Maybe he was killing it so scientists could study it.

If you only buy one downbeat low-fi piano dirge based on a Tears for Fears song this year, make it this one!
Str8 shouldn't have to seek out Gary Jules' cover. It's been played on KCRW regularly for over a year. Gary Jules plays at Largo regularly, and str8 wouldn't be the guy behind the guy behind the quote from Swingers if he didn't get out to Largo at least once a month.

Atticus, after giving your replacement seduction album question some more thought, the CD changer should contain the following:

Air, soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides
Zero 7, Simple Things (one Brit crit called it "the babymaker album of the year"
Kings of Convenience, Quiet is the New Loud
Dido, No Angel (Had to look up the title, but all American women 24-34 own this album.)
Hem, Rabbit Songs (I listened to it again, and my recommendation was solid.)
Sarah McLachlan, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (all women 29-39 have this album.)
Cowboy Junkies, The Trinity Sessions (never hurts to have an ace in the bullpen. Lay It Down would take second prize. Avoid Black Eyed Man. "Murder, Tonight, In the Trailer Park" doesn't mix with seduction. Same goes for The Caution Horses. "Sun Comes Up, It's Tuesday Morning" includes a casual reference to wife-beating.
Jack, you are so very wrong.

I fall into your stated demo on both albums and I have neither. (Dido? Seriously?)

More importantly, the best seduction album ever is D'Angelo's VooDoo. Sade's Lover's Rock would have to make the top five.

Since I no longer use the cd changer on the stereos, my "seduction album" is a long playlist including everything from D'Angelo and Sade to selections from India.Arie, Joss Stone, Bob Marley, Donny Hathaway, Brian McKnight, Bobby Caldwell, Erykah Badu, Donald Fagen, Charlie Hunter, Les Nubians, Los Lonely Boys, DJ Krush, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Faith No More, among others.

Nope, just actually working for a change.

As for Kashmir, anyone who's ever seen Fast Times knows how well that worked, at least initially... For Chrissakes, Stacy slept with everyone BUT him.

Now, if you heard "Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne, you knew the guy was in...
