They're not justices until they move up a level.

The decision was written by Pregerson, and joined by Paez. The dissent was by a senior judge from the Eighth Circuit named Beam. The decision is posted on the Ninth Circuit's site here.

In what universe? You're confusing Dean with Michael Dukakis, or Hillary Clinton, or something. Which is fine -- keep underestimating him, and tell all your pals to do the same.

If you really want to nominate a isolationist lunatic, I'd still go with Lyndon Larouche.

As for underestimating him, puh-lease. You may as well nominate Cruz Bustamonte.

Setting aside the other silly things you say, why do you think he's isolationist?

So are you saying that giving California back to Mexico, then, is a bad idea? Just curious.

Because the brainwashed (and unwashed) kids that try to get me to sign his petitions tell me that he is.

Or did you mean Dean?

In that case, because the brainwashed (and unwashed) kids that try to get me to sign his petitions tell me that he is.

His comments on the stump make this pretty damn clear to me. You aren't actually challenging me on this, are you?

I agree that some of his most diehard supporters are a little dubious, but I haven't heard Dean say anything isolationist. Read this, for example. It really doesn't smack of isolationism -- quite the opposite:
  • Fifty-five years ago, President Harry Truman delivered what was known as the Four Point speech. In it, he challenged Democrats and Republicans alike to come together to build strong and effective international organizations, to support arrangements that would spur global economic recovery, to join with free people everywhere in the defense of human liberty, and to draw upon the genius of our people to help societies who needed help in the battle against hunger and illness, ignorance, and despair.

Harry Truman believed that a world in which even the poorest and most desperate had grounds for hope would be a world in which our own children could grow up in security and peace not because evil would then be absent from the globe, but because the forces of right would be united and strong.

    * * * * *

The creation of such an alliance will be my goal if I am entrusted with the presidency of the United States.

But, like I said, go right on discounting the guy.

Ty, if you have nothing to back up what you say but facts and logic, give it a rest, OK?

I assume that it is only a matter of time before the good Reverend takes his show up to the big apple (or hymietown as he so affectionately calls it) to start marching to protect el Rushbo and the golden microphone at the EIB network?

Jesse Jackson marches to protest drug sweep

Wednesday, December 17, 2003

NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina (AP) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson led hundreds of marchers carrying signs and chanting slogans Tuesday to protest a school drug sweep in which police with guns drawn ordered students to the floor.

Critics say the raid appeared to have targeted black students, which police have denied.

"What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!" chanted the marchers. "Just Say No to the Police State," read one sign.

"We're going to march again and again and again," Jackson told those who rallied in front of city hall. "They will get bigger and bigger until there is fairness in the land."

internationalization please (pleas?)

Hil and Dean are saying we're screwing up in Iraq by not moving to get legitimate Int'l forces/Governing bodies involved. But what do they actually propose be done, specifically? The UN left and won't come back till Iraq, is safe, and Hil/Dean insist we get the UN in to make it safe.
Interesting dilema.
Here's an editorial on the topic, written by someone who has fewer typos than me.

What is amazing is the guy, dressed different than you've ever seen him, from the rear is recognizable. NTTAWWT.
I don't care, it's fantastic.

I think it depends what type of audience he is addressing. Right now he is trying to be all things to all people and its working - just look at this board. He's an isolationist to some and a multilateral foreign policy god to others (ok, maybe that's some hyperbole).

But Ty, if you think he still has any chance I'm willing to up the bet I offered six months ago.
