Movie that should have never been made: Along Came Polly with Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. Stoopid. I was forced to watch this on a flight from Boston to Phoenix. It was like a bad car wreck, I couldn't turn away.

Robin Williams on celluloid. Full stop.
(With MAYBE an exception for his performance in Good Will Hunting. The only thing where he wasn't completely over-the-top. Sort of akin to Al Pacino's performances in The GF -- I and II only.)

I haven't seen it in awhile, but I remember enjoying him in Good Morning Vietnam. Of course, he was just playing himself, the spazoid.

I would like to nominate William Shatner's Hairpiece for Worst Rug In A Supporting Role in any Star Trek movie you care to name.

I don't know, I like him in "The Fisher King", too.

AI & Superstar USA
I can't believe I forgot to watch Superstar USA last night! I did catch their "image makeovers" on Monday, though. That guy with the head was really scary-looking. It was more than just being half bald--he looked like he'd had a forehead graft or something.
AI was about what I expected. It has struck me that contestants in this show often aren't judged against each other, but against the audiences expectations. If they were really judged against each other, Diana wouldn't have a ghost of a chance of beating Fantasia.
Remember when I said I wanted to hear Diana next to Kelly Clarkson, so people could hear what a good white singer sounds like? Sunday's special "AI: The Phenomenon" included footage of Kelly singing during the finals. Wow. Diana DeGarmo can't touch her, and she would have given Fantasia and the other black divas a run for their money.
So back to last night. Diana was just awful. Her low notes (on every song, not just "Don't Cry Out Loud") were practically inaudible. Her middle range was frequently out of tune, sometimes very badly. And her high notes, as always, were just shouting on key. Her last note on the first song was cracking rather alarmingly, and it went downhill from there. She just doesn't know how to sing!
Fantasia, by contrast, had great intensity, moves well on stage, and knows how to sing (not shout) a song. Yes, her first song was stupid and had a stupid arrangement, but her performance of it was good. Her "yeah yeah" habit is annoying, but hardly a fatal flaw.
So, I voted (or tried to) for Fantasia. I had a very hard time getting through until 10 pm Pacific time, when Eastern and Central voting closed. After that it was almost alarmingly easy. I couldn't vote for the full four hours, either. If Fantasia were to (heaven forbid) lose to the talentless teenager, I will feel partly to blame.

Last night I was flipping through the channels and watched part of Commando (one of the Schwarzenegger crapathons) and I'd like to nominate Vernon Wells for worst bad guy ever.

Whose idea was it to cast an overweight Freddy Mercury in this role, anyway? Forget Ahnold. How long would he last in a fight with Richard Simmons?
So, who are your nominations for worst performance in the role of a villain?
(And please feel free to add your own category to the Notscars.)

I am gonna have to go with Gwyneth Paltrow as Sylvia Plath, bitch, victim, suicidal American genius played by a bland woman witth no emotions with a fake english accent.

1 Hour Photo- he was good, but it might have been bad casting in a sense (he was a "villian" sort of). The guy is supposed to be an extreme creep, like make you afraid to leave film at your corner drugstore. but I couldn't take him seriously as creepy because he was Mork. It made the movie much lighter than anyone intended- not the fault of his acting- more the fault of his prior over-acting.

Thanks. I knew about it. That's why I suggested coming up with different categories.
