Ferrets is a big Travis McGee fan. I concur that DiCaprio would not be a good casting choice, although in fairness, he surprised me in "Blood Diamond."
McGee is a written as a very large man. If memory serves, he played for the then Los Angeles Rams. Sam Elliott did a creditable job as McGee in a made for TV movie in the early Eighties, but he is a bit long in the tooth for the role today. I envision McGee as Howie Long.

I remember two different Travis McGee movies from the late 60s to early 70s. Dean Martin played McGee in one. (Picture a lovable drunk who manages to fuck up his way into and out of improbable situations allowing him to wax cynically about the evil that men do as he nuzzles a busty blonde's neck. Robert Mitchum played the character in the other one. (Mickey Spillane in shorts and living on a houseboat.)
DiCaprio can do neither of these.
