Well, if you had provided a cite, I would have refered to it that way. But it's not the US Census data, at least as described. That's what I linked to. Your chart (or rather, the chart you reposted) stripped out some of the data and then reordered it, and by doing so made it inaccurate.

I say none of this to criticize you, but rather whomever was the source of the table you posted, which is either sloppy or intentionally deceptive.

Get over what? That there were funny things about that chart that suggested that it wasn't accurate? Or the fact that you are a dimwit? Why are you defending a stupid chart that has a misleading title?

But since you're feeling defensive, let me attack you for not being too swift: I found it funny that a chart referring exclusively to women used a phrase that covered all gender categories. If the people who prepared the chart were careful and precise, they would have changed the line that they quite obviously took from somewhere else. My point was not that somebody wrote it that way.

And by the way, the heading cannot mean "percent of women comprising the field," as you say, that would mean that the numbers would have to add up to 100%. What you meant to say was "percent of workers in the field who are women."

The reason I picked on the chart is that I was irritated by the misleading conclusions it wanted careless readers like you to make (that is, that there aren't that many smart lady doctors and lawyers out there after all). Have you ever heard the expression "lies, damn lies, and statistics" ?
