Spam, spam wonderful spam
Actually, this is an odd request:
What is the easiest way to get MORE spam? There is someone here I fucking hate so I want to put in his blackberry's email address to every fucking spam-generating gay porno list I could find so that his blackberry is always warm and smoking.
Obviously, I could sign up for porno after porno but that's too time consuming.

I'm indifferent on G.Paltrow, but I caught a bit of Emma the other day, and was reminded (or, maybe not reminded, maybe more surprised) what a great job she did in that movie. When I first saw that version of Emma, I don't remember being struck by her performance. But when I saw some of it recently, it had improved somehow.
Not to reopen this (inexplicable) controversy (well, ok, maybe to reopen it), but I am still at a loss to understand how people could think Jane Austen was some sort of man-hater. It's laughable. Just because certain of her readers use JA's life situation to lament the condition of and opportunities (or lack thereof) for women of her era doesn't mean that's what she wrote about. (I haven't been thinking about this since the last time it came up, but I did think about it the other day when Emma was on.) Perhaps I thought about it because Mr. Knightley is the only consistently right-thinking one in that novel. He has his faults, but none is considerable. Emma is the one who needs to overcome her misguided views (which she does with the help of Mr. Knightley) and change her behavior.
Just wanted to share my DEEEEEP THOUGHTS [said in resonating basso tones].

Disagree (I'm not wrong), and agree. He was unobjectionable in Birdcage too.

Reminds me of a classic miscast - Robert Redford as Denys Fynch Hatton in Out of Africa. I'm not sure anyone could have been worse in that role.

This is only because you had him acting next to Nathan Lane in that one. Gack.

I thought he was wonderful in Birdcage and he played Garp perfectly. I can't think of any other actor at the time who could have taken on that role.

So, who are your nominations for worst performance in the role of a villain?
(And please feel free to add your own category to the Notscars.)

I've got to go with Larry Drake, the guy who played Benny on "L.A. Law". He was the villain in Darkman.
Bad, very bad. It was impossible to watch it without thinking about Benny.
(Come to think of it, it was just impossible to watch, and normally I'm a Sam Raimi fan.)

For no reason other than. . .
The fact that Wonk has the same amount of posts as I, and that is freaking me out a bit.

I will forever be doomed to watch every RW work that ever comes out, desperately hoping, maybe in vain, that he someday returns to that stage of his performance where he was the absolute best.
'Cuz he was, for a while, one of the best.
