It's a fair argument that the people of states like Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and many others get more enjoyment from their state school's football team than from a handful of graduates in classics and english literature.

OK. It's not like I said that football programs should be disbanded. The sense I had is that the revenue they bring in is captured by the athletic department.
