Certainly more productive than TM's "I have an IPhone" posts.
u should ask Hank if the gym car/hose car is patentable.

If she spent 20 minutes a day exercising, she would not lose out on time with her kids and she would lose even more weight.
But she wasn't really looking for anyone to help her with this problem. She wanted someone (even if it was 1 person out of everyone here) to make it sound like they cared about her and/or her problem, because she is a pathetic whore for attention. And you know what? She will seize on your post as the one that is defending her, therefore making you her best friend. Between hot dogs, she will translate what you said into, "One of my friends on the lawyer board said that I am beautiful just the way I am and I shouldn't worry about what other people think."
But we all knew this already, didn't we?

Yes we did. But some of us are sympathetic to particular types of insecurities, and like to counter the "everyone has time to work out and it should be the #1 priority" and "fat cow" crap. It sounds like she gets a decent (though doubtless not ideal) amount of exercise from a health perspective, and there are worse things she could do than not be skinny.
ETA I am not her best friend, and she has made a bazillion choices that I would not have made (e.g. living two HOURS from work and making babies). Like rp, I think that having a job TWO HOURS from one's home is INSANE. However, if one is unwilling to move, and has kids, and has a full-time job, that pretty much knocks out the ability to be on any serious physical fitness routine unless one only needs like 3 hours of sleep a night.

No one forces you to eat poorly, but if you feel that eating in a way that's healthy is depriving or punishing yourself, then you're not going to do it for very long. You have to find a balance that you're happy with, both in terms of what kind of shape you're in and in terms of what you eat, or it's not going to work in the long run. That may mean that you eat a ton and a weigh a ton, which is fine, if that's what you want. IMHO, exercise plays a small part in this.

I would like to focus on this...interesting response. I say I eat junk, but I really don't. I try to focus on high quality foods, natural foods [Whole Foods, the usual lunch places Cosi, [yes the bread is a million calories] Panera, sometimes a guilty Chipotle, i try to avoid pizza, chinese, mc d's] I think my issue is I like starch. Obviously the low carb thing works but is that sustainable long termish? when I tried it short term it worked. but I found it hard to sustain.

I made a polite, restrained observation, not to you.
Earlier today, after a puzzling, needlessly sharp rant on the PB, you mentioned that you might be "PMSing."
Maybe so, but it wouldn't explain the attitude unless you're a medical marvel because most women eventually menstruate.

Like I said, an improved diet and 20 minutes of decent exercise a day would improve things immensely. But she doesn't want to improve her diet and she definitely doesn't want to exercise.
The funny thing about the commute thing is this: If someone said they spent 4 hours working out every day, she would jump all over them for being a horrible parent. But she can't get it through her fat little mind that the fact that she wants to live a life that she cannot afford is the reason why she has a two hour commute. I bet her kids would appreciate her being around more more than living in a bigger house (although, I could be wrong, since when their parents are around, they have to threaten people with lawsuits to get them to play with them). She spends like she's a partner, when she's really a paralegal. She lives in a house that is probably too expensive and big for her. If she stopped wasting her money and had a realistic view of how she should be living, she could probably live much closer to the city.
But I think she lives so far away because she likes to have total freedom when she's in the city. No chance she runs into her kids or husband when she's shopping, eating or doing whatever else she does.

First off, my financial situation has changed and evolved over the years much like any other posters' on the board. Unexpected bills have come up, we have new expenses and I don't spend like I did back in the day. I feel that's a normal evolution..........So that would be I don't spend any money on unecessary expenses any more. got it? IT ALL GOES TO BILLS. and you are a hypocrite you bought an IPhone the most overhyped device ever and then posted about it not once but over and over. wE get it. you have one. we are not impressed.
Second off, we live in a modest house, and like Pony we rent. The rent is reasonable. MORE IMPORTANTLY the school system is great.
Any extra money I make goes to kids' activities. If you think I am a bad parent for commuting 4 hours for a good school system and reasonable housing. SO BE IT.

Maybe on weekends they'd like to go to the track and walk/run with you. there are also fitness tapes you can buy that have family workouts with excercises that are fun for kids.
ETA: obviously these are weekend suggestions. During the week, if you want to lose weight and can't afford the gym, change into gym clothes and go walking or jogging during your lunch break. Does your firm have showers?
I would also like to say that my firm rocks because there is a pretty good gym in the building and we get free membership ("we" including staff) just for working here. So maybe you could switch jobs.

She really doesn't need to exercise to lose weight. Just reduce fat and calorie intake (eat 300-400 calories less per day), and eventually something will happen.

Nice jumping off to one of your favorite activities -- smacking ppnyc around! I skimmed, but don't really give a shit.

You are post-hoc-ing. Bastard. Mine really was. It would be a rare thing for me to criticize someone criticizing bnb, and criticizing her for calling someone a fat cow would never actually engender feelings of disapproval from me.

True. Perhaps the optimal plan is to split the difference -- which a lot of trainers will advise.
Shoot to burn 250 extra calories or so per day (achievable in the 20-30 minutes of aerrobic exercise TM mentioned) and to cut back about 250 calories per day (equivalent to one candy bar). That gets you a pound per week, all else being equal.

I had to read this twice to make sure I wasn't confusing my middle finger with Morgan Fairchild.
