I used to. As a younger associate I also used to "date" people at work, but I had a couple of close calls, so I've decided it's not worth the risk. There's no reason to be at Big Law as a senior attorney if you don't want to make partner, so if your in that boat it's prudent to cut out the risky behavior.

If it's that easy to delude yourself, not only must you be exceedingly delusional,* but you're dumber than we all thought.

I'm not up for partner. I'll fuck her.

your firm has a no fraternizing policy or you think that unofficially it would be frowned upon? I have openly dated/lived with another attorney at one of my firms. The partnership there found nothing wrong with it (although, long-term, I didn't want to stay there - all eggs in one basket sort of thing).

That would have been more effective if you'd used a period or a question mark after the "Really" instead of a comma.

If you want to fraternize with someone, the policy is that you have to disclose to the managing partner, so that they can take steps, if necessary, so that there is no direct supervisory relationship. They are hypersensitive to harassment liability.

Not worth it, IMHO. You have the same stresses and responsibilities as the partners, without the paycheck to compensate.

Well, it's better than no paycheck, or an even smaller paycheck for asking if people want fries with that. And, non-partners don't have the liability risks -- generally negligible, but shit can happen.
ETA God you are fucking annoying. MR?

Yes, that is right -- the slang for testicles in some cultures is "eggs" and in others is "nuts." Good riff!

Mine had some thing that you were supposed to be called into an HR person's office and sign some Won't Sue The Firm letter. We were never called down to anyone's office although the existence of our relationship was well known. Now that neither of us is there anymore, perhaps I can figure out a way to exploit this oversight on their part for fun and profit?

Though if a partner (preferably BSD partner), the field reopens for risky behavior, as it were.

Nice try, but all the FBetties are spoken and accounted for. Maybe next year. Bring your "A" game.

At my firm, to combat this stuff, they would bring in hookers between 10-11 for the guys pulling all nighters.
True story, that's how RT first started getting interested in being a lawyer.
