Can you tell me if Bubba Ho-Tep is any good?
I saw the description of the movie and knew you must have seen it as soon as it came out. I'm intrigued.
Quote:
1 hr. 32 min. Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by acclaimed author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the “true” story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis(Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his “death”, then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack(Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds…

Naked Bootleg
Strange happenings at Cornell.
http://www.cornelldailysun.com/articles/10304/
"At 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, Mike Stone '04 stepped out of the shower in his residence at 413 Dryden Rd. to find two men who had allegedly broken into his apartment. Stone, a six foot four inch 287 pound defensive lineman for the Cornell football team, dropped his towel and, naked, tackled one of the perpetrators on his front porch and held him until the police arrived."
I bet it was cold in Ithaca on 11/06. There had to have been some serious shrinkage, so don't worry if you can't see it at first, fingey. It'll get bigger.

I concur with mini-me. This was a really great movie. Seriously, it is the best movie I've seen in a couple of years. If you go to the movie's website, there is an NPR review as a wav file, with the two reviewers laughing at themselves and unable to believe they think a movie about Elderly-Elvis and JFK-dyed-black-by-the-secret-service defeating an evil mummy that literally sucks ass is a really superb art film that in a fair world would garner oscars for its leads. I agree with them totally. It is probably the best movie about battling the indignities of aging that I've ever seen.
And, yes, I saw it at its premier at the Angelika.

Incidentally, there was half-serious talk of doing the sequel (I think there is a mock-trailer after the credits). "Bubba-Nosferatu, Attack of the She-Vampires", or something like that. Elvis, despondent about how crap his movies are, runs off to New Orleans after making Clambake and there battles nublile she-vampires who swallow.
If they get sufficient return/buzz on this movie, maybe they'll actually make it.

Then Belle & Sebastian must be the biggest freakin band of all time, in your little world; they make Travis look like rugby players by comparison. If you haven't yet checked them out, I'd recommend clicking on the Amazon link over there --------> and buying "If you're feeling sinister", their best album yet. As if my seal of approval wasn't enough, one of the songs on the new Belle & Sebastian album, "Dear Catastrophe Waitress," was playing on last week's episode of The O.C.; it was the scene where Kiki and Marissa's mom were having drinks in the restaurant/bar. The song was "If She Wants Me." The O.C. is fast becoming the arbiter of all that is cool.
By the way, I like Travis too, but don't have the new album yet. How is it? Driftwood, Sing, and Why Does It Always Rain on Me are indisputibly great songs.

much to my surprise i have seen the fin here in the burg. Actually it looks more like a modified mowhawk in which they plaster much of their hair down, sticking some up in the middle.
It looks pretty dumb.

1) Belle & Sebastian suck. You probably like Moby too.
2) The O.C.? How fucking old are you, 12? Let me guess, you still shop at Abercrombie.

Indeed, though the look is taking off. Apparently it's now favored by movie bad guys in overhyped, pieceofshit, big budget sequels that United Airlines forces its passengers to watch on transcontinental flights.
Gatti(two hours of my life .... just ... gone)gap
Cause I like you I put the image somewhere so people could view it. You can't show an imdb image directly from their site. LE
