Drugs & pupil dilation

Okay. But the question was: Why does that happen?

I don't get the joke. How do you get from there (carver peanut record joke) to here (history of hip hop)?

Maybe from the thing about the peanut as a phonograph needle?

Uh, you know, the part that he, uh, quoted.

No. Not really. A gift should be given because the giver wants to make the givee happy and has chosen something to that effect. It should not be given on pain of being thrown out of the bedroom or because the givee's sisters thinks it is about time he spent some of that money he has wasting away in the bank.

Now, I'm not saying he's not cheap and that he should be more considerate of his wife. I don't understand their financial situation -- why she pays for everything and he has no responsibility to pay for anything (maybe he pays for a bunch of other stuff -- who knows?) -- but, that's who he is. If she entered the marriage agreeing to keep all finances separate (and I hear this is much more common than I thought it was), then what did she think was going to happen? She married a cheapskate and it was okay then. Why has it all of a sudden become such a problem that he needs to be saved from divorce?

The fact is, if you think you're going to save their marriage (that seems to be in trouble because of his behaviour), by twisting his arm into spending a bunch of money on a gift, you're nuts. The whole thing is weird to me. But then again, we disagree on gifts in general don't we? I still don't believe in the "buy your wife an expensive gift for giving birth" trend that you tried to set me straight on.

speaking of gifts

My husband and I exchanged some gifts today because we are travelling tomorrow. I ended up getting him X-box and it went over very well. Thank you to anyone who is around today that helped with that decision.

Uh...gee thanks. Um...but what does that have to do with anything? Uh...is the joke that early hip hop artists scratched records using phonograph needles made from peanuts or something? Um...I was hoping it was something a bit more amusing than that.

I like drupes.
I never heard of drupes. FWIW, I am allergic to the drupes mentioned. Food allergies suck.

Mr. Hand - you may want to add benadryl to your portable medicine chest. I have found it to be helpful in managing the non-life threatening symptoms.

Some drugs increase neuron firing, this causes your body to think you are in a fight or flight situation which sends a message to the adrenal gland to wake up. This causes your pupils to dilate in an effort to improve your vision and help get more information to your brain.

The "uhs" were directed more at me than at you - it was a "scroll, then post" thing.

I didn't say it was a good joke, but I saw the logic in it. It's Christmas, I'm trying to enhance bilmore understanding in the world.

Uh, yeah, that last line is also a joke. As if I could.

Ty spotted on bus in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA—According to riders on the eastbound C bus, John Bolen, 23, made a conscious effort Monday to make the cover of Thomas Pynchon's The Crying Of Lot 49 visible to all on board. "Instead of resting the book on his lap or on the seat in front of him, he was holding it up in this really awkward, uncomfortable-looking way," rider Caryn Little said. "Then, every so often, he'd glance around to see if anyone was noticing what he was reading." Bolen vehemently denied the Pynchon-flaunting charges, insisting that "the light was bad" on the bus."

Ty, dear, we all know you are smart. This is really pathetic.
I see you wasted time reading back issues of the Onion yesterday as well?

Rush

Rush Limbaugh went on a radio rant yesterday after a judge ruled that Florida prosecutors can examine his medical records for evidence of pill-popping.

In a 20-minute diatribe on his talk show, the conservative icon bellyached that he's the target of a vast, left-wing conspiracy.

"The Democrats in this country still cannot defeat me in the arena of political ideas, and so now they are trying to do so in the court of public opinion and the legal system," he fumed.

"I guess it's payback time."

He also said: "We still haven't seen [Former President] Bill Clinton's medical records, have we? Has anybody?" he asked. "We haven't seen Howard Dean's records as governor for 11 years in Vermont."

He's such a fucking hypocrite. Good thing his listeners are smart enough to see through it.

Hey, this is the Fashion Board, not the Politics Board. So what is the fucking hypocrite wearing, besides maybe some stray white powder from all the drugs he's been snarfing?
