What kind of ROI are you getting on those teeth under your pillow?

Don't the Jaycee types like to tell a joke about a bunch of horseshit, a shovel, and a pony? I'll have to call Inhofe - I hear he tells it well.

True dat. I've noticed that when doing the bangable/not bangable thing at lunch.

Changing subjects, do other states have the same quantity of issue TV ads that we do here? Not only are we being saturated by Bush 'n Kerry, but the phone company and its competitors have each funded lobbying groups to try and develop some kind of public support for changes in the law, and so have some of the major electric companies. Watching the late news is like watching Crossfire, but with weather and sports.

Are there actually people who are so hard up for things to do that they'll call their representative and urge them to change the law so a big utility company can make more (or less) money?

That Slave is indeed a charmer. You are not the first to fall prey to his d-lo wiles.

I have no idea, because its not my job to know. Give me 1 week and a copy of the budget and I guarantee I will not only find $400 billion in cuts, I will find an additional $400 billion for good measure.

First Amendment Quote

Quote:
Explain this to me: The Supreme Court of the United States says the First Amendment protects the right of hard-core pornographers to lure children into "adult" Web sites where they will be exposed to every manner of deviant sexual behavior? Yet that same court says the First Amendment restricts the right of groups critical of this decision from airing ads at election time that oppose presidential candidates who might appoint similarly disposed judges. As incomprehensible as it might seem, this is the state of First Amendment jurisprudence as the current term of the Supreme Court comes to a close.

Big whoop. Any person in this country could find over several billion, easy, of stuff they personally would not have a problem with cutting and probably that they honestly think the country as a whole would be better off if that stuff were cut. It's getting it through Congress* that is difficult, and you have utterly failed to address that.

*apparently the current president will sign anything, so that's not a consideration right now.

You all laughed, but...

Drudge is reporting that insiders are claiming Kerry is close to tapping Hillary as Veep

DRudge must need some page hits.

No way, still. And for health care? Talk about DOA. "He's trying to resurrect the same medical system as President Clinton: the efficiency of the Post Office, the cost-effectiveness of the Pentagon, and the compassion of the Internal Revenue Service."
