And today, I'd like to give thanks for Starbucks.

So, I stop in Starbucks on a daily basis for my favorite variety of tea (it is conveniently located in the lobby of my building). But I'm not much of a coffee drinker. And much of the Starbucks menu is, frankly, glorified milkshakes, so I don't typically drink those items. But. Every now and then, when I have had a particularly horrible day, I'll get a grande caramel light frappuccino. Today was one of those days. And it made me happy.

Only 2 or 3 hours to go before a day off. Yay.

I take it you've never knocked an ovary. Reverse cowgirl = empathy for your plight. If you're having trouble, I'll try to schedule some depos in Philly to put on a clinic.

I would still fuck her, though. For old times' sake. If she finished with "Oh, Rob . . ."

I think I might tag Nanny Yvonne if given the opportunity.

Now I cuss, Atticus

Of course we are all thankful today for our own niches here in this electronic forum. I was prepared to say as much at table today. Imagine my surprise when I learned the forum has let me, and the rest, down on its strongest suit- TV news. Did you know Sealab started up 2 weeks ago with new episodes? We know the exact details of every decision on countless reality shows, yet no one thought to post Sealab was starting back up?
Un-thank you.

I was hoping to work a "sharkgina" reference into one of our late-nite IM sessions with Fringey. With str8 gone, it would have been our private joke. You fucking ruined it. Thanks a bunch.

6 Hermes silk scarves for $4 each!!! Even more satisfying is that it was at an estate sale run by a crabby guy who most often overprices stuff like crazy.

Are you enraged by the annual realization that Division I-A football lacks a coherent system for determining a national season champion, but feel powerless to do anything about it?

Fret not! Someone has done a shitload of problem-solving for you!

I think it was Noam Chomsky who said if this country dedicated one tenth of the collective brainpower and heart it presently invests in sporting events into, say, politics, we would solve all of the nation's problems within a matter of years. Forget the one-tenth. I'd settle for the guys running that website.

Clive Owen as Bond

Clive Owen is willing to consider playing James Bond.

Quote:
It has also earned [Clive Owen] the honor—or the curse—of seeing his name constantly floated as the next James Bond. He seems perfect for it, but Owen says the studio, MGM, has never approached him. "It's nothing but rumor," he says, "and to be brutally honest, if they did come out and offer it to me, I have no idea how I'd react." How about saying yes? He laughs. "Well, there are far worse things to be associated with."

Movies I saw over the weekend

In the theater:
"National Treasure" - a poor man's Indiana Jones; wait for video. Nick Cage sucks as an action hero. Diane Kruger is pretty hot, though.

DVD:

'Van Helsing" - ugh. Horrible. Glad I didn't pay to see it.

"THX-1138" - I haven't seen this is years. The DVD remaster is terrific; it looks very fresh and timely. Duval is terrific.

"The Terminal" - sappy Speilberg crap. Hanks coasts through the flick, hardly breaking a sweat. The best character was the little Indian janitor Gupta.

"The Limey" - more style than substance, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
