Sorry about that.
Although if it makes you feel any better I quit three years ago. I tell everyone how difficult it was - going from a half of a pack per week to zero.

I am person number two. But I smoke about five a day on weekends. They just taste so great with booze.
The only way to manage caffeine is to maximize the addiction. The more you drink, the more your body adjusts to the stuff and the more you need to get wired. To maximize the kick, you have to space the intake. I fire back a 16 oz at breakfast, then either a 20 oz Diet Coke or a 12 oz coffee at lunch, then a 12 oz Diet Coke around 4 pm, then a 12 oz Diet Coke around 6:30-7:00. that usually keeps me right where I want to be through the day.

I have the odd cigarette (once a month or so, maybe less, usually if I have a drink). It's like an indulgence. On Monday I had one in the apartment. My husband hates the smell of regular cigarettes so I can't have one in the apt unless he is away.

As I mentioned in some other context here, I actually have never smoked tobacco. But, if I did, I would probably become addicted, and you would bug the shit out me.

You cannot believe how many people get pissed when I say the above, which is usually my pat response to any religion dicsussion. A lot of people really believe they're going somehwre better than the guy dwon the street who's of a different faith or is an atheist. They get pretty damn indignant at the notion that we're all really the same no matter how try to differentiate ourselves. Its funny, because these same people decry racism, yet a lot of them think the Sikh who lives next door is a pagan who "won't make it into the kingdom."
I recall asking a nun as a kid "Why doesn't my cat go to heaven?" She said Heaven was exclusively for humans. I'm still waiting for the supporting cite.
We all pray to the same God. Anyone who thinks he's got better ticket waiting at the end of this gig because he said a few extra hail marys or got some ashes is a king clown.
|
From this post I can't tell if you are an atheist or a undifferentiated monotheist (is that a word?). Isn't saying that we are all praying to the same God just another way of saying that other people (who either don't pray to any God or who pray to many gods) are wrong?
I can't believe I'm trying to engage Sebby in a religious discussion. Someone shoot me now.

Actually, I'm something of a universalist myself by predeliction - I think (note: I didn't say believe, 'cause I'm not sure I'd go that far, but to the extent I believe any of it, this is what I consider to be the necessary final outcome) that everyone, Christian, atheist, animist, wiccan, saint, sinner, evildooer, whatever, will eventually be "saved," i.e.: returned to oneness with God, and that this resolution is necessary for the apocalypse (aka end of the world, aka final fulfillment of God's plan, whatever). Some people have further to go than others, but since human temporal perception is merely an illusion resulting from our sub-divine state, that doesn't really matter. Ultimate convergence with the godhead is a necessary outcome if you believe that everything, ultimately, eminates from God.
That tends not to be a very popular opinion, either, with much of anyone.
Glad to exile the McDonalds commercial from your mind Fugee - I'd forgotten Britten set that poem, now it's stuck in my head, too.

Is this a potato manufactured by Coach? Can that be found in the purse or the shoe department?
