Oh, I get it. I thought his comments were funny, but that's kind of the point . . . he's a comedian.

So it's okay to be a racist and homophobic fuck only if you're a comedian?

and thank you for bringing some normallacy back to this board.
100 posts about "How I would build a tax structure if I was starting a country?" Guess what? We ain't getting rid of income tax and we ain't changing it in any meaningful way anytime soon. GGG says it's a politics board Hank- we talk about stuff like that- Bullshit. You should talk about stuff that could or is happening. You want to re-design the revenue stream go to nationstates.net and build your own country.
what you guys did the past few days is equal to me and SS arguing about whether it would be right for the US to claim Saturn for the supposed Uranium deposits- it is only "politics" in the "I'm a geek" sense. Sorry.
And thank you to the Twin sock for removing my Avatar- and from "online at the same time" observations yesterday the Sock is either GGG or Sidd- it doesn't seem like Sidd though- so it is either GGG or some lurker.
That is all.

There's a limited pool of people who tell me "none of your business, old man." In fact, it's more of a small, one-person hot tub than a pool.

Just because they may have Uranium deposits doesn't mean they're manufacturing nukes or that they associate with terrorists.

It's never OK to be a racist or a homophobe, but comedy based on difference among people can be funny if done properly.

So, what? Dean's timing was off? You didn't like his delivery?

There's another sense?

Thank you. I keep saying "let's discussing something that's actually possible" but keep getting sucked into responding to this stupidity, so I share the guilt. OTOH, it makes some marginal sense to talk about the goals any revision to the tax system should seek, and sometimes talking about the extremes illuminates that.
Not the discussion we've been having, of course. But in theory.

As a general rule I don't do socks. It's not me (or Not Me).
Promises, promises.

Interesting. I now picture you as looking exactly like 2nd Lt. Steven Hauk (the Bruno Kirby character) from "Good Morning Vietnam."

I'd prefer the consumption tax (structured as discussed) to either a VAT or a flat tax, both of which are being floated. And, in terms of my primary goal (progressivity) it's immensely preferable to either of those.

Yea, something like that. Perhaps it would have gone over better had he been wearing a jet black leather suit.

What if we tax each use of your vibrator- some per orgasm amount- rather than just the initial purchase. Or better let the vibrator be relatively tax free but heavily tax batteries. I believe if we did this sort of thing, some of the geekier guys in your part of the country might get more dates.
mmmm floats*
*midwest term for pop with ice cream- not sure if regional
