He came home a few minutes after midnight and then he did the most romantic thing . . . he fired up his new xbox and played Knights of the Old Republic 2.
I am the luckiest girl ever!

Did you give him the xbox? If so, what did you expect?
I'm sure he didn't really want to play, he just wanted to show you he appreciates your gift. That's what I've been telling Mrs. Finch since last xmas.

I think the underlying problem might be e/o's failure to give OM the xbox. Or just not frequently enough.

Bobby is Long, indeed
Ostensibly, that is Scarlett Johansson. And it's a frame from the upcoming movie A Love Song for Bobby Long, and the trailer is here. So sayeth the Defamer.
Whoa. It may even be worth subjecting myself to a couple of hours of John Travolta to further investigate this.

I'm single handedly keeping the Nyquil and tissue people in business, and I think I may have to check in to rehab once this illness is over.

nyquil doesn't help sinus headaches. you need a decongestant.

Weekend movie roundup

I've always been fond of "The Killing Fields" for re-enactment nail-biting. Which is weird, because usually I tend to avoid the "impending-nonfictional-genocide-only-question-is-whether-the-protagonist-has-a-one-in-a-million-chance-to-die-of-old-age" genre.

Pros:
on vanguard of Atkins trend
missionary position seems kinda kinky

Farley Mowat asserts dominance by peeing on sister
Mixed:

George Carlin

LOS ANGELES - George Carlin is entering a drug rehabilitation facility to shake his dependence on wine and a painkiller.
“I’m going into rehab because I use too much wine and Vicodin,” the 67-year-old Carlin said in a statement released Monday by his publicist, Jeff Abraham. “No one told me I needed this. I recognized the problem and took the step myself.”
The name and location of the facility weren’t disclosed.

This screams for my one George Carlin story.
I was playing craps in Vegas with a good group of guys, one of whom was very drunk. He notices George Carlin is at the table with us. So he calls out, "Hey, you, George Carlin, say something funny."
George picked up his chips and walked away.

Blender Recommendation
I suppose I could post this on the gadget board, but I need to buy a blender.
Any recommendations?
This would be used for blender drinks (natch) and for um... blending things. As I was raised by wolves on the Atkins Diet, I've not done much baking. (You know the wolves don't do South Beach. Have you ever seen a wolf in Miami? Cougars sure, but no wolves.)
I always seem to buy the best gifts, both for me and for others. This wasn't my all-time great Christmas for gift-giving, but everyone was still pleased, and a few were surprised and pleased.
Of course, if someone wanted to buy me a really terrific blender...

We have a Waring Pro, and it is just about bullet proof. It doesn't have a whole lot of bells and whistles (only 2 speeds, for example) but it works superbly and is supposed to last forver. I highly recommend it.

I heard about a couple who ran into him eating breakfast in a resort in California (second hand story). They politely apologized for invading his space, but told him they were huge fans and would really like his autograph. He very nicely responded by shaking their hands and writing something on a napkin, which he then folded and handed to the husband with the directive that the napkin not be opened until Carlin left the restaurant. They obliged. On Carlin's way out, people recognized him and he did a few bows and waved a bit. Once he left, the couple opened the napkin and found "Fuck You - George Carlin."
I have no idea if its true, but its easy to believe.

I have nothing to say here. I just couldn't give up what is possibly the one and only chance I may have to quote that line from one of my favorite songs.
Hey Jack - try consumer reports, you boring son of a bitch. You're going to kill the fucking board before it even starts today with this sort of thing.

Those things will be bouncing off of her knees when she's 30. I don't remember them being that big in Lost in Translation. For now, she hot.
