This notion of sticking crap under the seat in front of you was invented by airline midgets. You know what goes under the seat in front of you when flying coach? Feet. That's all. Nothing else fits. Indeed, they don't even fit if you have some ass like Hank in front of you putting their seat all the way back into your knees. I think they keep shrinking the size of the person they design planes for, and are currently anticipating that the average passenger will be 4' 10".

I mean, no skin off my back if you want to use the space and twist yourself into whatever space remains, but let's stop pretending there is actually usable room under there.

Well then, it's confirmed. You're a dickhead too.

Travel sucks. Sadly, it sucks even worse because of fellow travelers who are assholes.

While this may have been true in the 1970s, this is not at all true today.

I haven't worked anywhere since 1992 that was closed the week between Xmas and NY.

my biggest clients still do (and that isn't the Big 3 which also still do). The first year we started my place we made a list of days we would be closed. Friday July 5th we were open. It was a major morale hit because all staff was in and only 2 attorneys were in. I suppose we all accept our circumstance as normal.

Good lord. I think I'm in love.

I do not understand why airlines do not assign overhead space the same way they assign seats. You should get the space assigned to you and if your stuff doesn't fit you have to check it. It should be a standard size for all airlines. Bring as many little bags as you want, as long as they fit in your assigned space. And even on an empty flight, the rule should be enforced so that no one tries to get away with bringing on more than they can fit in that space. It would suck for the first few months after this new approach is implemented, because people are stupid. But it would be better for everyone after that.

The worst people in the world are those who have seats in the back of the plane (or who have boarding priority), who put their extra shit above your seat and then move back to theirs. They fuck it up for everyone.

And anyone who puts their coat in the overheard before everyone has been seated, should be shot on the tarmac.

Amen. That is a brilliant idea.

The *only* thing I liked about my first (and last if I can ever help it) flight on Spirit Airlines is that they charge $X (forget actual price) per item for carry-ons, and $<X per item for checked bags. Brilliant.

I don't understand the mega carryon deal. I have another lawyer I used to work with that would travel for 3 days and bring a full suitcase, a full carryon and a briefcase.

I toured the country when I was younger with one pair of pants and two pair of underwear.
FYI - I'm not TSA pre and I haven't taken any liquids out of my carry-on in years. Dopp kitt typically has shaving cream, face lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste and masturbating lotion. I forgot one time and got away with it, and then decided thereafter that I wasn't going to pull out the liquids unless forced to do so. I've never had security make me open my bag and take out the dopp kit. I fly about once or twice a month.

I once had an inventor whose idea was to do away with beverage carts, as they clog up the aisles. Instead he would put the cart on rails in the space where the over head is now. My search showed dozens of such systems in patents from the 1920s. I guess you checked everything other than a small under seat bag. The systems suddenly stopped in the 30s. Stopped and were forgotten.

I'm betting several stews dumped coffee pots on passengers so they had to move away from it.

Brilliant idea. But it occurred to me the reason they don't is because the airlines want to force you into buying shit (even more space, economy plus, status) to get you to board sooner.
