There is still no sex in the champagne room

It's one bit of power. Matters about as much as those others you were worried about.

Look, what are our basic needs: food, shelter, health, sex, friends and family. Maybe a bit of intellectual stimulation, too. The kinds of power that matter relate to those things. And, in our twisted little society, each sex has some advantages.

Having boardroom power can get you laid. Getting laid won't get you in the boardroom*.

Not if they've advanced above the first couple levels on the hierarchy of needs, which I bet you have -- I think you are disregarding the needs people have once they are fed, clothed, fucked and fairly healthy.

ETA I don't know why it wont work with the link or whatever. it is indicative of my day.

This is my power fiends are boring and twisted argument. If it's all about money, recognition, and those traditional power things, then I say give them women all the power it wants - no, wait, don't, because then all the women in the world will be assholes, too, and that would suck.

Of course people are driven by circumstance, but no matter what the circumstances, you have choices as to how you will proceed. It could be that your choices don't seem very appealing, or that they're not very attractive, but they're there.

Of course getting laid can get you into the boardroom. You just haven't prioritized that when figuring out who to lay.

Clearly I've been squandering my power. Note to self: stop screwing around with the copy boy if you ever want to make it in this life.

Close your URL tag -- nope, not working here either; I can get you the link, but not the label for it.

But yeh, pretty much all that stuff is bullshit in my book.

I didn't get seriously into music until college. Grunge happened and that dominated the musical landscape of my college days. I also got into jazz, but I was under the influence of Wynton Marsalis, so I thought fusion was crap. I've grown up a lot since then. Now I just think that most fusion is crap.

That's why I asked for recommendations. You can still hear most classic rock singles on any AOR station in the country. That means unless you want to sync Pink Floyd to The Wizard of Oz, the only albums you need are albums full of great songs that don't get played on the radio.
I was 9 when it was recorded. I didn't discover it until HS, when I, by grace of being born in Chicago, fell deep into the blues. That journey led me to the Allman Bros. and a veritable paradise of beautiful music that allowed me to completely bypass most of the 80s and 90s until they had a chance to sort themselves out and let the cream rise to the top.

Or stop slaving away in the big glass building and go sit back, enjoy, and appreciate screwing around with the copy boy for the powerful experience it is.

If you like Greg Allman, you might want to try and get your hands on his best session work. He played guitar and Dobro on Boz Scaggs's first solo album in (I think) 1969. The album is self-titled. Give Somebody Loan Me a Dime a listen.

Oh, for Christ's sake, Greedy, that ws a joke; don't try to make this a personal thing. My sex life and my ability to be in and appreciation for those moments don't need any coaching advice. You can pm me for details, or you can just take my word for it, but please do not make the assumptions you appear to be making. You seem to be arguing on assumptions about what you think I mean, rather than what I am saying, and while that may make you feel as though you're scoring a point here, you're not, because it's simply not applicable or, more importantly, responsive.

I went back and did it three times.

I just think that once we are fed, fucked, warm/dry, and healthy-ish, we need other things. We need to feel accepted and that we have some control over our lives. If you aren't getting enough food, you are more willing to let the control thing slip, but once basic needs are met there is other stuff. E.g. your desire to have your intellectual/argumentative/moral superiority over Spanky acknowledged. You wouldn't be on here if it were all about food/sex/health/friendship.

I am going to see the 49ers play the Packers this weekend. It promises not to be a good game.
