honestly? yes. But I have never actually fixed it. it makes me think less of the entry. Like the person is an idiot.

It is nice to know that he still thinks of the board. I sometimes wish he would stop by from time to time. Even if it were just a visit under the guise of a sock. I think it would be good for the board.

You're right though, and I tell people this all of time, the difference b/w the half and full Ironman is huge. You can't even compare them.

I have found that just saying the words "I did a triathlon" usually unnecessarily impresses people. I hastily explain that the Danskin spint triathlon isn't really in the same universe of competition as an Ironman, though it was really cool to be in it.

My brother is organizing a "1ish K" as a fundraiser for an arts organization he's involved in. It'll be in the parking lot with kegs at either end for hydration. When a competitor more or less feels like he's completed the course, he calls for race officials, who will bring out tape so the competitor can have his photo finish. Most people he's explained it to go, "ooh, I could do that!"

I'm thinking about setting up a kiddie pool and a couple of tricycles so the more ambitious people can compete in the accompanying triathlon.

One thing I forgot to mention, and then I'll drop the whole long commute thing. People who live in Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn have a close to or 2 hour commute--due to the traffic patterns. And that's close to the city. Certain parts of Jersey and CT and the farther you get out on the Island, 2 hours. My prior commute from Rockland [when we lived there for a short while] because it is the other side of the river [rockland county is much much closer] was close to 1 hour 1/2 due to the logistics of the ferry to the train. So it's not as simple as moving closer, or making the short commute a priority. Sometimes you can live close and have a very long commute.
