Wikipedia. LOL. Even that quotes a Minneapolis nonprofit exec as saying " "Jews are among the most racist white people" and Ellison (under his religious name Mohammed) saying "[We] stand by Ms. Jackson. We stand by the truth contained in the remarks attributed to her, and by her right to express her view without sanction." His association with Nation of Islam, the CAIR fiasco, organizing an event called "Zionism: Imperialism, White Supremacy or Both?" (and refusing to hear concerns from Jews about it), getting caught writing the weird pro-Farrakhan pieces under a fake name (did you READ those pieces?) and when running for office, conveniently saying he was wrong for being pro-Farrakhan (but taking campaign contributions from Hamas supporters). Not exactly a stretch to suggest he's not liking the yamulke wearers.

Also not a stretch to suggest that you have an irrational reaction to anyone who is muslim.

A "first muslim" in Congress without a bug up his ass about Jews would be a positive thing.

There's no doubt that the U.S. has done better than Europe in dealing with immigration.

I wouldn't be so quick to accuse people of being anti-Semites, or to ignore other things they've said. YMMV.

As long as you ignore that extra (roughly) 100 years of forced "immigration" and its after effects.

But yes, in the 20th century, we have done far better in absorbing our (white) immigrant populations.

But he's Muslim, you see? He must hate Jews; it's in his genes.

It's in his spoken words (all his pseudonymns), not genes.

Your "point" was so ridiculous that addressing it head on would cost us a minimum of 10 IQ points. Too much to ask.

Not that it angers me, but what would it do at this point? Subject gender distinctions to strict scrutiny? If so, get ready for coed bathrooms and the elimination of the LPGA and WNBA (oh wait, ERA Now!).

you either need to delete your post (opps too late) or you guys can't point to opinion polls as being indicative of anything anymore.

I can't imagine why you'd read my point so broadly.

Here's the thing--bad credit risks are charged high interest rates for a reason. Because they're bad credit risks. If companies can't get a fair return, they won't offer that credit. So, if you want to put in maximum rate caps on loans of any type, expect that a segment of the population simply will not have access to credit. Maybe that's a good idea, but to me it smacks of paternalism.

That is certainly true, and I don't know enough about this Ellison fellow to take a position on him.

I do think, though, that it is pretty damn unrealistic to expect a politially active Muslim not to have a bug up his ass about Israel in today's world. (I know that's not exactly the same thing.)
