the real problem there is that the bins do not correlate to the seat rows. there's typically overlap.

why? they have that bin in front to see if any one bag is too big, why not simply have a bin that is the size you get- your shit fits, cool. your shit don't, check some now.

If there are two rows of seats empty when I arrive (with me in one of them) and a bag in the overhead space it doesn't take much to figure out the bag's owner is not in one of those rows.

Because an ass-jack like you will then argue the bin discriminates against a long, thin carry-on that, while not able to fit in the sizer has a volume that is well below what is allowed.

There is a lot i can't explain until the Chinaski/Thurgreed patent applications are filed, but the bin won't be solely volume based. You will have your share of the space above your row, based upon whether there are 2 or 3 seats in your row. you've some long thin carry on? better hope it bends.....

This is why the airlines won't follow TM's plan. Better to sell a scarce resource at a premium: "If you buy economy comfort, you can board first."

Premium seats come with more storage room. They're leaving money on the table.

Not if the price reflects that extra storage room already.

Fundamental rule of flight economics: separately stating charges increases total charges.

Re: A Friendly Correction for those Man-Haters who Delve to be Single
A post-paycheck professorial friend figured out the ultimate solution to these problems of space on flights. He hires students to drive with his stuff and meet him at his destination. If it's a long trip, they can even bring the dogs. They get there, get him all set up, pick him up at the plane, and he doesn't have to worry about anything and has all the comforts of home wherever he goes.
When he first started doing this, we all worried about the inevitable sexual harassment suits. They never came. But he has had a paternity suit or two.
