You're getting awfully worked up about this

I don't think it's really about what people saw; rather, it's that she pulled a silly stunt (which will prove embarrassing mostly to Janet and Justin), and as a result of that silly stunt CBS wants to rescind a privilege they had granted her. If I were at CBS I would be pretty pissed off and want to punish her, but it wouldn't arise from puritanical family values BS, but because she made the network look pretty foolish.* The network will trade on puritanical family values BS because it benefits them to do so, but I don't think that's what the decision was really about.

*And because she fucked Justin Timberlake, if you are to be believed.

for you Giants fans

Or Ravens fans...Jim Fassel is now working for the Ravens.

Quote:
Fassel, fired by the New York Giants after the 2003 season, was hired Wednesday by the Ravens, who want him to work with second-year quarterback Kyle Boller to improve a passing attack that ranked last in the NFL. Fassel said he expects the job will keep him occupied for a season - or until he receives a better offer.
Yes, Mr. Managing Partner - I'd like to work here until I get a better offer, OK?

giants - ravens, whatever

I guess I'll just have to put on the old motorcycle jacket and listen to my old tapes and cds and pretend to be young again while the wife and kid are in the next room.

Here's a poll for the oldies:

Mine: Debaser
C'mon, Flinty! Mr Man and I are totally there. We could line you up a pre-festival poker game....

yes, I tried to post this earlier, along with the horrible pic of Fassel that they put on cnn.com (see below), but it seemed to break the site, so I didn't retype...

I wonder who at cnn he pissed off to get that photo released.

Funny, I hadn't even noticed the poster's name. I just assumed that it was Not Me and it had changed its avatar.

OMG you're a closet prude.

Come on, it's not like she dropped her pants or took her entire top off. He just ripped the right boob part off - it was mostly covered and my god miles away. How many boob commercials were there anyway?
Seriously, how IS it different from what Lil Kim did?

Granted, if you or I were to pull the same stunt at work, I'm sure the fur would fly.

to Coltrane et al

Seriously, my bf and I booked flight/hotel, etc. to Palm Springs for the festival in May, so if any other FBers end up deciding to go, PM me and we'll meet up somewhere. I can't promise that what happens at Coachella stays at Coachella, but we will see....

The prude remark is so stupid. Do you understand everything you read? I said I would be pissed off about the stunt, not offended by the tit. The point is that Janet Jackson knows that there is a difference, even if it can't be completely justified with logic (it's a "I know it when I see it" thing), between a bare boob and the boob commercials, and not just the level of bareness, but the way it was bared.

And if Janet weren't aware of that difference, she wouldn't have planned the "tantalizing" or "shocking" (or however they hyped it)finale to her act.

And I don't see what purpose comparing her conduct to Lil Kim's serves in this context. Is Lil Kim going to present the award to Luther Vandross instead?

Lil' Kim had a pasty on the nipple. The nipple ring exposed the nipple. Exposing the nipple seems to be the dividing line in most places.

However, if you don't see the difference between Lil' Kim walking around with a pasty on and JT tearing off the shirt in a simulated sexual assault, you are a freaking idiot.

Actually, even if you do see the difference, based on past things you have written, you are a freaking idiot.

Look, If I were CBS, I would most certainly have Ms. Jackson on my grammy show. Look at what has happened in the 3 days since halftime...you have every news reporting network and sports reporting network talking about it, making a big deal about it saying the letters CBS over and over. Don't you think more people would tune in knowing that she's going to be there than if she's uninvited? Even if they know she's not possible going to pull another stunt?
I'm just saying the feigned shocked and agast at what she did, please.

You would feign shock if you were concerned about millions of dollars in fines from the FCC. They are trying to be contrite don't ya know.

I would have her on the show too. A lot of people would have watched just to see what happens with her.

As far as the time delay stuff, I think the networks have wanted to have an excuse to do that for ages.
