Are you kidding me? My girlfriend is not manly! I can see Kelly McGillis as being considered somewhat manly (is she the one who was married to Tom Cruise -- I think she's the one I always THINK was married to Tom Cruise, but wasn't really).

But, come on!! No one calls my lady manly!! Them's fightin' words. Pistols at dawn.

She's not even manly in this "manly" photo:

ET fix photos...

Crap. I can't get the manly photo thing to work. Whatever -- it's still pistols at dawn.

Dunno about your dreams, but Species (1) is quite decent. Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina, Forest Whitaker (who shows up in the most amazing crap - why is that?) and the red headed chick from CSI - it's an interestingly decent cast. And I like Natasha Henstridge generally because of Ghosts of Mars, a very silly (John Carpenter) flick in which she and Ice Cube are obviously having a lot of fun bantering and hitting each other. (And Pam Grier plays a turbo-dyke who gets beheaded, which is strangely satisfying.)

Existenz is pretty OK, too - a lot of weird medical/goopy/gynecological imagery which is pretty gross, but it is a passable little attempt at a mind fuck if you don't try to read much into it. But then I think Cronenberg is great. The Mr. hates Cronenberg, but I think that has something to do with the fact that he and Cronenberg once shared a GP, and ... if you've watched Cronenberg, you understand why his very big issues with medical practice and the body would make one really, really uncomfortable with sharing his GP.

Incidentally, I also saw Galaxy Quest this weekend - I hadn't recognized that the head teen geek in GQ was also the male lead in Jeepers Creepers. (A movie that was strangely enjoyable despite the fact that it just didn't work at all.)

Kelly McGillis is the chick rocket scientist (heh) who intruded on the homoerotic vibe working between Tom and Val Kilmer in Top Gun. Tom's first wife was Mimi Rogers, who was quite hot in several movies whose names escape me, and who still looked pretty good as Elizabeth Hurley's mom in the original Austin Powers flick.

Did you see dangerous beauty? Completely rEdiculous and generally not good movie (with lovely costumes), but there is a great scene in which she eats a banana that is possibly worth the price of a rental. She is much more attractive in that than in any pic yet posted or in Braveheart, in which I thought she looked like some hippy refugee from the early '70s.

BR(I often mistake her for Rebecca de Mornay, actually)C

eta: and Kelly McGillis is way manly. She looks like she could rip a cow in half, and was exuding twice as much testosterone as Cruise in Top Gun.

Am I gonna have to kick your ass too? Don't MAKE me do it, BRC...

(I will admit, though, that there seems to be a dearth of quality photos of my girl on the internet. "Your girl is lovely...")

Rebecca de Mornay is way manly.

("A manly man, to been an abbot able." Argh. This thread is reminding me of that paper I had to write on Chaucer, that I totally didn't understand).

He really does a fine job of selecting beards.

Sure, it may be rEdiculous, but it is also a (mostly) true story, which is pretty cool.

And yes, the banana scene is SO worth the rental fee.

2.

And Rebecca is also at the very top of the list of "people who appear at first glance to be exceptionally hot, but who become less and less attractive the more you look at them".

That effect can often be attributed to bad dentistry. Honestly, after Risky Business you'd think RdM could afford better caps.

Bringing us full cricle back to SJP, who I thought was exceptionally hot in "Honeymoon in Vegas."

See, that's what I'm saying. And definitely in that Amish movie. When she tooks her clothes off I thought, hm - really manly looking body as well. Not very curvy, more block-like. And then someone (Alex?) said I was totally wrong.
