In response to all the people PMing me to ask if I had something to do with this controversy, I'd just like to make clear that if someone around here was involved, It Was Not Me.

highly disappointing

This is from Monday's NYT's front page:
  • Insurgent attacks to disrupt Baghdad's supplies of crude oil, gasoline, heating oil, water and electricity have reached a degree of coordination and sophistication not seen before, Iraqi and American officials say.

The new pattern, they say, shows that the insurgents have a deep understanding of the complex network of pipelines, power cables and reservoirs feeding Baghdad, the Iraqi capital.

The shadowy insurgency is a fractured movement made up of distinct groups of Sunnis, Shiites and foreign fighters, some of them aligned and some not. But the shift in the attack patterns strongly suggests that some branch of the insurgency is carrying out a systematic plan to cripple Baghdad's ability to provide basic services for its six million citizens and to prevent the fledgling government from operating.

It was a Frame-Up!

So this guy is speaking at a Forum in NY, and:

Quote:
An LGF operative was present in the audience and happened to be recording as Rep. Hinchey launched into a barking moonbat conspiracy rant worthy of Democratic Underground, telling the audience he believed the fake CBS memos were planted by Karl Rove to discredit Dan Rather, and divert attention from President Bush’s “draft dodging.”

When our operative asked Hinchey if he had evidence for these charges, he first said, “Yes, I do,” but when asked a second time he admitted he did not.

Our operative pressed the issue, “Don’t you think it’s irresponsible to make charges like that?” Hinchey replied, “No, I don’t, I think it’s very important to make charges like that ... I think it’s very important to combat this kind of activity in every way that you can, and I’m willing, as most people are not, to step forward in situations like this and take risks.”

And the crowd burst into applause and cheering.
I mean he's not a party leader maybe, but "congressman" is one of the higher title the Dems still hold.

I really think the insane hatred for all things Bush helped push "on the fence" people our way- and really caused the Bush supporters to get way more active. Essentially, this branch of the Dems is saying the 40% or so of the country who strongly supported Bush is just a duped mass of idiots.

Hijacking Catastrophe -- Blueprint for Empire : 9/11, Fear, and the Selling of American Empire

http://www.informationclearinghouse....rticle6895.htm

[fyi, 1 hour view all of this if possible -- you will learn a lot]

...Stay tuned. Clearly, Iran and Syria are next. Saudi Arabia? North Korea? Cuba and/or Venezuela?

* * *

Re the above link http://www.informationclearinghouse....rticle6895.htm - I just watched it and thought it was extremely well done. Very interesting and informative. Definitely worth watching.

Thanks for the URL. Personally, I think that Empire - the obviously true aim of the U.S. government - is barely concealed under the lofty rhetoric of Bush's State of the Union address. In its pursuit, the U.S. government is committed to the destruction of every government and people that stands in its way, in the Middle East and throughout the world.

"Freedom and democracy" for Iraq and "liberty" around the world are new code words for a very particular global strategy. According to this strategy, the Pentagon's military pre-eminence will be used to invade, bomb, subvert and threaten any and all countries in the formerly colonized and semi-colonized world that seek to maintain control over their own resources and retain even nominal independence and sovereignty. Bush and the neo-conservatives are the political spokespersons for this strategy. Congress and the courts fade into an ornamental status as Pentagon-enforced capitalism asserts itself as the real power in contemporary U.S. politics.

If I keep seeing Mickey Mouse posts, "Mickey Hank" could be back at any time.

I have a half dozen of your avatars tied up in my basement. One wrong move from you and anything could happen.

I'm blaming whoever has the blue_triangle sock for this.

It's the equivalent of saying betelgeuse three times.
