I sort of like Ed Harris, but have to get past two things whenever he is cast in something: the first, when in the Abyss, he slaps Mary Elizabeth Stuart Masterson Kate Ashley Mmmmmastrantonio in the face amd screams "Don't die on me, you bitch!" - and it works -- and the second is the cheesy proposal to the cheesy Julia Roberts in the cheesy movie where the annoying but generally not cheesy Susan Sarandon dies.

I also read an EW review of Empire Falls, which review noted that Ed Harris is too virile to play a man who never gave his wife an orgasm. I'd suggest another actor, but I can never think of anyone when I try to re-cast movies.

ETA when reading the book, I always pictured David Strathairn as the brother (is the brother's name David)?

Have you seen Pollack? Apparently he is excellent in that.

I think Ed Harris is totally hot.

I understand it was shot on location in Maine. Was it Podunkesque?
It could have been better, but I liked it. I think that most critics have said that Russo shouldn't have written the screenplay -- he managed to committ both of the deadly sins of turning a complex novel into a movie: he left too much in (in total, this was a 3 1/2 hour movie) and took too much out (he relied on narration instead of dialog and action in telling some important stuff).

It was very Podunkesque. The scenes inside the Empire Grill could have been filmed at the Dew Drop Inn, and the crumbling factories along the Knox River look just like the crumbling factories out on Highway 64.

Nobody's Fool is still the best of his books. And it was a better movie, too.

Loved Nobody's Fool. I will have to remember to rent Empire Falls when it comes out on video.

Tara Reid

OK, time to dish on Tara Reid.

Before and after bad lipo.

you'll have to scroll down, but she's there in a green and white bathing suit. With a lumpy stomach. I would have said tummy, but, you know, it offends some people.

Guy: This song Ring of Fire is about Johnny Cash falling in love with June Carter.
Girl: Really? I thought it was about a rimjob.

His brother's name is David. Aidan Quinn played him, and was fine.

Miles is supposed to be kind of schlumpy -- Paul Giamatti would make a good Miles if he managed not to whine. (Wasn't his character in Sideways named Miles?)

2.

I forced my way through all of them. There's an arc. Mohawk was too serious and dry/ the Risk Pool was funnier and better/ Nobody's Fool was very funny and great/ Straight Man was funny and still good/ Empire Falls too serious and dry

some day they'll remake Nobody's Fool with Adam Sandler

Why the fuck does this guy get any attention? I've never seen him say anything funny. Ever. You're not funny just because your gay. It's not the same as being fat. He is the worst comedian ever. (And that includes Rita Rudner.)

Did you see his recent standup on HBO? I have not but thought he was funny in SATC. But then I find Rita Rudner amusing (though her schtick gets old)

And speaking of standups, did you see "The bad boys of SNL"? THey showed some really old Chris Rock. He appears to be aobut 17 and though some of this material was the same, his delivery was totally different. Very strange.

I don't ever laugh out loud at the internets. This was an exception.
