anyone see RW/RR Battle of the Sexes this week? How lame was it that Emily left because her bf got kicked off? Also how lame was it for James to diss Shane in order to try to stay? Glad that Antoine thought so too... Mtv fucked up and showed the first half of the episode this week twice instead of airing hte second half. I finally caught the second half on Thurs night.

Did anything interesting happen? From last week's episode you knew that Emily was leaving and that Antoine was going to save Shane. As the group gets smaller, the show seems to get duller. And is it me or do most of the challenges appear to favor the men due to the strength involved. Not that women aren't strong or anything.

I seem to remember Lauren Holly on All My Children. Does anyone still watch those daytime soaps? What a friggin waste of time.
|
In the middle of a ketchup here, LP, but don't feel old. I remember Edge of Night and I am young enough to be Paigow's sister. It was on at 4 pm on Channel 7, right after General Hospital, and was only a 1/2 hour. It was followed by the 4:30 movie. Wasn't there a character called Preacher?
Also, a girl from my high school was on that show.
Me, I started watching Days of Our Lives in 4th grade. I can't bear to sit through it now, but every day at 1PM a little switch in my brain says it's time to watch. Talk about conditioning. Too bad the same switch doesn't work when it's time to write that way overdue memo.

I've had similar things happen, though not because I was surfing porn, but rather, because I was surfing hacker sites. Often when you are searching for how to crea....um destroy a virus, you will find that the sites that have that information often have pictures of naked women.
I've had bosses wander in while I was doing such research. Always causes an awkward moment or two, as I am sure you can imagine.
The funniest thing I ever had happen though is when I was talking about an actress with one of my bosses and I said oh yeah she is on this new show now. He said I think I know who you mean. I said let me find a picture. Did a quick search pulled up a site and damned if she wasn't practically naked. I must have turned bright red.

|
No, you're not dreaming, Janine Turner played Laura Templeton, Jackie's (Demi's) younger sister. Luke saw her on the pier and in the fog thought she was Laura.
I think this was before Anna came along . . . I tend to think that at one point Demi was a love interest for Robert.
I think Jackie Zeman bulgey eyes got her boobs done and is still on the show, as well as doing commercials for study at home courses.
I do have a job, really.

I have no idea which of the guys in the movie who played gay guys are gay IRL, and which aren't. I don't think Dean is IRL.

I think Dean Cain dated Brooke Shields while they were at Princeton together, not that that means anything with respect to the q. of whether he's gay, NTTAWWT.
Now that I have posted three random answers to two-day old posts, I'm feeling kind of skekky. I am going back outside.

Once, at a former firm, a partner took a call when I was in his office and proceeded to book a stripper for a party he was having at his house that weekend. That partner and another partner also brought "escorts" to the firm's "prom" (yes, they actually called it the "prom") that year.
On a different note, I once asked a guy friend "Do you like porn?" He thought I asked if he liked corn and said "Well, I like creamed corn." I thought he said he liked creamed porn, NTTAWT. The whole conversation was like a weird Gary Larson comic.

OK, I lied, I haven't gone outside yet. How many firms call the event the "prom"? I know of at least one in DC.

Would somebody please identify the firm, please? This is the sort of quality scuttlebutt that law students just can't get anywhere else. Inquiring minds want to know.

There is a NYC-based IP firm (which has a satellite DC office) that calls its annual spring formal dinner/dance the "prom."

great evening soaps and shitty evening soaps
I was putting a mental compilation of the successful and failed evening soaps together and trying to find a theme for why the failed ones didnt cut it.
Successful: Melrose, 90210, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty (which is the only one I never saw)
Failed: Models Inc, that one with Yasmine Bleeth that was revolved around some wealthy family in LA; that one based on Wall Street that had Pete Sampras's wife and Eddie, the fruit shrinker from Friends. Why were these so compelling? (I really never got into 90210 but obviously many others found it compelling).
Did the failed ones fail just bc they sucked? I personally think Models Inc had some schadenfreude built it- like who wanted to see this stupid spinoff with Jo's moronic abused model friend succeed? The LA one just sucked as I recall- I was hoping it would be good- but why did it suck? I dont htink the Wall Street one was bad the one time I saw it, but I have schadenfreude for Pete Sampras's wife because I heart him and she is just the luckiest girl in the world- like a female Ben Affleck.
Thoughts?

And speaking of toasters- I was at the gym this weekend taking this SRO fitness class where you need tickets to get a space. THe substitute teacher said, "oh if i kneow you needed tickets, I would have suggested there be a prize. I would give away a toaster. '"
Toasterman? Are you an aerobics instructor?

Yes, I think he was Lori Loughlin's love interest with a dangerous criminal past while she was on the outs with her other bf. I do not believe he has held a job since. Fair enough--other men on that show were far hotter.
Did anyone see the VH-1 "I Love the 80s--1981" where
some wiseass smirked about Luke and Laura: "It's the classic American love story--boy rapes girl, boy gets girl"? Aside from the feminist outrage thing as a young PJ, I thought he was the most hideous fucking actor ever to be on a soap and couldn't see Genie Francis being paid enough to fake screwing him.
p(holy crap, I've regressed 20 years here)j
