I think I'm going to resolve to post fairly lightly and insubstantively, if at all, for a few weeks. As it is, I doubt if the two halves of the country are going to be able to have a civil conversation post-election.

2.
I think the problem is the invasion of the FBers. They are not nice people.

I'm worried too. Part of the problem, if that's the right word, here is that we all know each other (or at least everyone's positions) fairly well and know how to push each other's buttons. It's going to be very tense.

This is what is all about. When the nerds stop yelling at each other and have to impress the hipsters. It only happens for a couple weeks every four years. Let's wipe that spittle out of the corners of our mouths and try to say something interesting.
Maybe, when it's all done, they'll teach us some new moves.

I'm resolving to scroll whenever there are nasty, Bush/Kerry sucks kind of exchanges that don't either (i) focus on a substantive policy question or (ii) discuss a strategic polical point. My assumption for the next three weeks is that votes will be honestly cast and counted and that each candidate is a reasonably decent fellow without enormous character flaws, though on the later point I reserve the right to speak up if someone shows themselves otherwise.
As to posters here, we'll see what kind of character we all display.

Listen Spacefuck, you guys have dredged "whistleblowers" out of everywhere with great little tales of evildoing at the White House. Don't you think that if a massive undertaking like investigating voter intimidation were tooled to not be fair, someone might have said something? Doesn't Justice have SOME career people that wouldn't be simple hacks?
And if there was something real to the allegations, don't you think we'd have heard stories about real problems instead of reports of roadblocks on 1 road, 4 blocks from a polling place.
You want to see bad acting back then? Pull up video of the Democratic controlled committees "Approving" Military absentee ballots. Anyone with the smallest kernal of consiousness who could watch that and still vote democratic is simply a vile himan being.

What's his deal anyway? Is he doing this out of principle, or is he an ego maniac? Or both?

The GOP: rewarding fraud.
The GOP recently fired some campaign workers in South Dakota who were violating election laws in registering voters and who lied about it to the press. A strong message against vote fraud? Not so much, since the GOP turned around and gave the workers jobs with the Bush-Cheney campaign in Ohio. Not exactly a zero-tolerance policy.

Fun in Kentucky

I had lost all interest in the state of Kentucky. I was convinced it was a state of liars, having driven across the entire state (on the Blue Grass Highway, no less!) without seeing a single blade of blue grass. However, the current Senate election, featuring Republican incumbent and baseball Hall of Famer Jim Bunning against Democratic challenger Daniel Mongiardo, is turning into a doozie.
Bunning had been leading Mongiardo comfortably in the polls, until his increasingly bizarre behavior started scaring off potential voters. Just this morning, Bunning apologized to Mongiardo for saying that he looked like Saddam Hussein's sons. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20041012/D85LITG00.html
I initially learned of this race from a salon.com article cited by Kos. Fun stuff. It's worth the trouble of clicking on the links.

Kentucky's largest newspaper is now calling on Sen. Bunning to answer questions about his mental health. Bunning's campaign responds that the Senator is as fit as when he pitched a perfect game in 1964 for the Philadelphia Phillies. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...dc_3&printer=1
