I'll admit that I've never seen the show and just looked up Diane DeGarmo's picture. I have 2 questions:

1. Are they all fat?
2. Does anyone really think that that fat chick is going to be commercially successful in the pop music business today?

1. No. Of 8 women finalists this season, only two (Diana DeGarmo and Jennifer Hudson) fall into that category. And even they are only fat, not obese (I'm not talking scientific BMI definitions of these terms, just lay definitions). Of the 4 men, one (Matt Rogers) was kinda fat, but much smaller than in his Rose Bowl lineman days. Kelly Clarkson has a big ass (and short legs and a long body, which don't help), but she's not really fat. Ruben Studdard is very very large. A number of the contestants have been really skinny--Leah Labelle from this season (the first person eliminated in the finals), runnerup Clay Aiken and finalist Trenyce from last year, and Tamyra Gray from the first season.

2. I don't think Diana DeGarmo will be a huge hit, but more because she's not a good singer and is not cute than because she's chubby.
