If you have pretty much everything you want, you go for the perishables.

Note that the corollary to TM's rule is that if you are spending a lot, get one or two relatively big things rather than using up a whole mess of smaller things.

Dude, I'm just trying to help you out. There is really nothing worse than being in a Macy's or a Target with a huge registry. You end up wandering around looking for shit and then you end up getting whatever's on the first page. That said, if you put Scotch Brite sponges on your list we're all going to send that.

I plan to shop online for them and have it shipped. You can usually sort by price.

That's rather impersonal, isn't it?

I was told to overregister (or duplicate register) at Crate & Barrel b/c you can return any redundant items for cash.

I like cash.

Having been to 20+ weddings in the past three years, I can't imagine doing it any other way.

I'm with you. That's not a registry, that's a shopping list.

I'm against the whole wedding registry concept, anyway. I guess it used to be a way to give a young couple starting out the things they'd need to get on their feet. Now people get married older, both are likely to have careers, and they've probably been shacking up a year or 2 (or 8) before getting married. They already have the stuff they need. Registries are wish lists of worthless gadgets. Why should I feel obligated to buy a $75 gravy boat they'll never use just because they want to get married?

A registry for post-divorce/breakup men, however, would probably fill a great need.

This is why you should just give me cash.
