A couple of things here:

1. "Dubbed over commentary..." It must be a Japanese thing. On the Iron Chef show, they have a dubber speaking English in voice over (Chairman Kaga just sits there looking pensive), and they have subtitles -- IN ENGLISH!! And the spoken English is different from the subtitled English! :wtf:

2. I rented "Jackass -- The Movie" for my husband over the weekend. It seemed particularly appropriate for his, uh, unique sense of humor. He watched it while I was out, but when I got home, he said it was hilarious, so I watched it too, and DAMN!! those guys must have serious pain tolerance.

There was one stunt that was so funny, I rewound it over and over and laughed each and every time. (Believe me, this arouses no small degree of my concern that my husband's puerile sense of humor is rubbing off onto me a little more than I would like to admit....)

The movie was like a cross between "Candid Camera" and "America's Funniest Home Videos" (the videos involving mishaps anyway.) Loathe as I am to confess it, many parts of it were pretty darned funny. (However, some of it was just gross -- I couldn't even watch.)

Larry Namer, who co-founded E! Entertainment (originally as Movietime Channel), and Blake Mycoskie, a contestant from The Amazing Race, plan to launch Reality Central, a round-the-clock cable network focusing on the genre. Investors include winners of CBS' Amazing Race and Survivor.

This strikes me as a little late, kind of like trying to cash in on the refinancing boom now. FWIW, the full story is here:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...-channel_x.htm
Okay, I have known about this concept for a little while. I am acquainted to Blake and he was talking about his big project with E! several months back. I guess things are progressing if press releases have come out on it now. I do agree that the reality movement could be waining now. I hope for his sake that it works out...

From what I've heard he doesn't get killed off - worse, much much worse (mou ha ha ha ha ha). The character annoys the pants off of me, but he does have the most interesting and ambiguous character of anyone right now, I have to admit.

So CC was really pregnant? I thought so, it explains a lot about her appearance - just as "stoned out of her mind" explains a lot about her performance the last 2 seasons. I have a bet to collect on.

I heard rumors that Cordy will probably stay comatose and thus safely on ice & out of the way next season, if any. I actually heard that, for much of the end of this season, they're just using a body double and not even using CC to lie there like a lump. I was so hoping that Jasmine ate her. I cheered & the Mr. thought I was mad. Just replace her with a prop, the performance will be an improvement. Hey, latex heads only look stupid if you try to give them expressions or make them move, right?

I am SO looking forward to the resurgence of Wolfram & Hart. I was DESPONDENT when they zombified the whole firm like that was the end (rather than just business as usual at BIGLAW - heh). They were my heros, speaking the truth to potential GAs everywhere. If only they'd bring back Lindsay. I still miss him.

A good wedding gift should say something, and if you're going to get a silver photo frame, you shouldn't get it engraved because then they can't return it and use the credit to get someone else a wedding gift.

My suggestion is that you purchase them something they won't even have thought to get yet, say when of those nice baby basket things or a rocking horse; include with the gift a nice African fertility symbol (most major cities have a couple of galleries with African figurines). This is a gift they will remember.

Does anyone have the name of the Japanese show? I want to get myself a seasons pass for it on my Tivo. I'm so in.

Also, I'm a big fan of Aqua Teen Hungerforce. Thanks for whoever provided the tip.

Melrose Place ReRuns

It appears that Melrose Place is being shown on the Style Network. I found it on one evening after the Melrose Place discussion here. I don't know anything about the Style Network, just that is is close to the Food Network on my cable channel list. A schedule for today shows that it is on a 5:00 p.m.

http://www.stylenetwork.com/sapp/Gri...unday&time=aft

Thus, Paigow and others can either tape or TiVo it until the DVD set comes out.

Does anyone else think it's really, really sad that Eric (from New York) is still doing these reunion things 10 years later? I feel like imploring Calvin Klein or some other underwear manufacturer, "Please, please give this poor boy a job! He needs the boost to his self-esteem!" He's like Dennis Quaid in "Everybody's All American", living through the past, the best years of his life long ago...

Morally ambiguous characters always lose arms on these shows (see Krychek on the X-Files and Lindsay on Angel). I'm hoping Conner loses at least a digit.

Yeah, she was pregnant. The baby was born in March. For a brief second early on this season, I just thought that they'd finally allowed her to gain weight. Joss wrote in a joke about her, er, expanding bustline in that episode he did about them all reverting back to highschool.

I thought she was just doing a Gillian Andersen lay there and don't move thing, but I wouldn't be surprised. I think she'll be around if the show gets renewed, but it'd be interesting to see in what form.

Heh heh heh. I was rather relieved to see that too, and it looks like they're going to be even that much more intertwined with W&H next year. My understanding is that Christian Kane was asking for too much money, and that's why he got written off. Aside from that Angelina Jolie movie, I haven't seen him since he's left the show, and his music isn't that good at all. I'm hopeful that they bring him back, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Eric will never make it back to his glory days as host of The Grind. Everything from here on out is just a sad attempt to find a market for his playa self.

Beth is a running joke that will never stop being funny. I hope she continues to do the cahllenges and continues to be the first person voted off for the rest of her life. I hated her while the show was airing (comparing the David sheet thing to rape would be laughable if it wasn't so damn sad that she really believed it), and her continued participation in stuff where everyone obviously thinks she's a loser is so fitting. Oh, Beth, you never got your big acting break? Quelle surprise!

My cable company shows the reruns on their community channel. You know, the one that has the high school sports show on it.

I wish they would stop inviting Puck to all those reunion/competition shows. He's entertaining for a very short period of time and he always gets thrown off for breaking the rules. But the next time there is a RW/RR challenge - he pops up again. He's made a career out of breaking the rules.
