Well then, what about Rats?

Thank you, Atticus. That is very well said, and something I have thought to be the case for years, despite protestations to the contrary. I liken it to the unease a woman feels (not all women -- but the person hooting/leering can't know what sort of woman you are if he doesn't know you!) when being hooted/leered/yelled at by strange (meaning, they don't know you -- but they're probably strange in the other sense of the word too) men while walking down the sidewalk, minding her own business.
Unwanted sexual attention is unwanted sexual attention, no matter where it comes from. That someone could on the one hand say that the "hey baby..." remark made by a man to a woman he doesn't know should be taken as flattery, and on the other hand that a man unreceptive (heh) to male sexual advances should feel insulted or threatened by similar behavior is ludicris (that's the street way to spell it). Yet I have heard many men preach this double standard. Losers.

This whole idea could only apply to the situation being discussed if that baseball player only expressed his antigayish reservations after the other, purportedly gay, guy leered at him or came on to him in the locker room. Unless you feel those same feelings of unease when in the company of ANY person of the opposite sex, no matter how unsexual they are acting, your hypo fails.

Oddly, it seems like there is a high correlation between being threatened (not complimented) by male-on-male attention and seriously contending that a woman should feel complimented when she receives similar attention from straight men.
Now I feel squicky and threatened.

True, but a box of .22 shells probably costs a lot less than your hourly rate and travel expenses. Plus, it's free cat food!

I'm still trying to figure out where I can buy the bad-ass Polar HRM dtb was posting about. REI, no. If anyone knows, please tell me.

Wait. You can't flirt? No matter what the situation, flirting should never be prohibited.

Also, Polar has a "send in your old transmitter for a new one for $25" program through their website. The customer service guy said my transmitter issue wasn't an uncommon one.
It's not covered by the warranty though.

Nicely put. Be sure to look for your name in the revised edition of The Interpretation of Dreams, which will be available in bookstores everywhere in time for the Hanukah shopping season.

Whoa whoa whoa. This whole thing started with an examination of why TO (presumably) feels uneasy when gay men come onto him. (Ha, ha!) He claimed as long as the gays in the NFL just play the game well, he had no problem with them, if they just keep their orientation to themselves. Then Sebby observed that being "hit on" by gay men was flattering, and he didn't understand why someone would feel differently about being hit on. The whole hypo has to do with not the mere presence of gay people, but whether their sexual attention sets your Spidey-senses tingling, and for what reason.
So, no, the hypo definitely involves an expression of male attention, and why some men freak out when they sense a male is thinking about them sexually.

Okay, I can tell you, when I'm sitting on your lap, reverse-cowgirl style, watching SportsCenter, with your hand on the remote and the button, it is definitely not okay to flirt.
But once we're done, have at it.

"FBetty" according to RP, my guru for such things.

Well what is RP doing in the room in the first place if you're riding me? Observing? I think this is the perfect situation for flirting. In fact, you should flirt too. At the same time.
