If you don't want to go with that, when the couple brings it up, you should act like someone on the opposite side of a deal lives where they live and mentioned the story to you at a closing and told you all about how unfair the whole thing was. (This is an easy lie since the old-boy network isn't an infrequent topic at closings and it isn't unbelievable that people would share stories of how unfair they are treated for being a card-carrying member.) You were familiar with the story, but since no names were mentioned, you didn't make the connection. Feign surprise that such a thing could have happened to them. That way you can discuss what happened without getting into too much detail and later on, you can tell the Mr. that you suspected it was them at the time you talked about it at the closing, but you weren't really sure and forgot all about it.

I think it's creepy. Not that you've Googled me or anything. Only 1 person here knows my real name and I don't think he really knows that he knows it. Still, I agree with Sidd that I don't think that it's entirely socially acceptable (at least to admit to the behavior), especially re: someone you hardly know.

Anyway I'm happy to learn that on a Google of myself, I find that I'm a medical doctor in England and also a solicitor in England.
Nothing shows up here in this country, which is how I've always wanted it.

It's a pure football city with extremely passionate fans. While some cities are more baseball or NCAA basketball cities, Cleveland is all about its NFL team. (I'm sure the Indians will be thrilled to know this).

I bet you were disappointed to find that I am not the B actress that shares my name and does guest spots on Married with Children and Moesha.

Not in the least bit creepy, and I assume that once someone knows my name, they're going to google me. I've sent e-mails with the re: line "You've been googled" when I find old friends through google. All of the responses have been positive.

Eh, fair enough. Personally, I'm Google proof, as I share a fairly common name with a semi-famous person such that nothing about me pops up in at least the first 10 pages of results.

But I would not be offended if, and woul even expect, someone meeting me professionally (which is different, I agree) to look me up in Martindale, and perhaps follow his nose from there (not that that gets you anywhere, especially since my current employer doesn't list us in Martidale).

Alternatively, you could simply say nothing, and abruptly turn and walk away. I hear that works pretty well.
