This is pointless. PPNYC probably derives more satisfaction from the fact that you are trying to get people to ignore her than from anything else. To some people (most of whom are toddlers), there is no such thing as bad attention, even if it comes in the form of an obvious effort to provide none.

Maybe I could turn this thing into my advantage... if I could find a sheriff who so offends the citizens of Rock Ridge that his very appearance would drive them out of town.

But where would I find such a man?

[pause]

Why am I asking you?

My internet boyfriend is also my real life boyfriend, so there is not much escapism there. My internet girlfriend, however, is quite the internet catch. Men she's never met before suddenly give her flowers, etc.

Okay, new topic: a woman here at the office has seemed to have dropped something in the vicinity of, I don't know, 70 or 100 pounds. She's looking awesome. I hadn't seen her for maybe 2 months and then saw her in the hall, and i couldn't help but compliment her. Just said she's looking fantastic, that sort of thing. Was that intrusive or inappropriate?
I'm sort of going through this, though with not nearly as much weight loss. I get a lot of "you look great!"s and I don't mind at all. I'm not where I want to be, but I noticably am a few sizes smaller than I was at the beginning of the summer. The "how much have you lost" gets a little weird, though. And so does harping on it after the initial "wow, you look wonderful." I do from time to time run into people who, after making the "you look great" comment, backtrack a little and say "not that you didn't look good before..." Oh, and I get a lot of compliments on my hair.

Given the rapidness of that much weight loss, I'd avoid asking questions about how, since it's likely gastric bypass. People do ask me "how did you do it" or "what have you been doing," and their eyes start rolling over in their heads when I give the detailed answers. (At least 10 hours a week of hard core working out and a vastly reduced diet.)

I don't think anyone minds being told that they look good.

Indeed. I'm reminded of that fact many times a day.

As I recall, I complimented her on her new hairstyle, and then worried here about whether she thought that I was hitting on her.

This worry of mine led into a wonderful discussion about how waitresses know what boys want/know what guys need. (AoN, I need to add that to the iPod.)

Or maybe about how they hear much worse from idiot male customers who mistake their cheerful use of flair as an invitation for sex.

In that 'hood, Dona Tomas and Pizzaiola are both fantastic, too.
My sister and I sort of alternated between all of them. Is Asmara is the one next to the fondue place? We really liked that one a lot because of the service. We'd take our parents to the Blue Nile when they came to visit.

We witnessed a date from hell at Temescal. We think it must have been a blind date, given the uncomfortableness of the parties. But they solidered on. Her eyes started glazing over fairly early on though, and at some point, he pulled out a laptop to show her something. We almost tried to rescue her, but we couldn't make eye contact in order to inform her that we had a getaway car in the parking lot if she needed to quickly bail.

The Displaced Dog also liked it when we went to get Ethiopian, because we always ended ordering too much, and we always brought some home, but we never felt right about eating leftover kiftu, so he got to eat the raw leftovers.

Okay, thanks to you and ppnyc. I think I'm okay. I didn't ask anything - just an enthusiastic compliment.

But here's the thing: I don't care how much satisfaction she derives from it.

I don't think I am a "negative" attention hound at all. I think I attract it based off my posts but it is what it is.

MMM that is the litmus test. If you started to dig around about how she lost all that weight so quickly? she would have felt backed into a corner.

My predictive powers with respect to that show continue to suck, but I am happy with the result. I dislike the winner AND I dislike Supernova, so Win Win. I have been relieved of any obligation to ever attend a Supernova concert and I couldn't be happier.

The only person who changed my mind during the course of the show is Toby. I thought he was a frat boy with no stage presence at the beginning of the show and by the end he was out-Brandoning on Killers songs. Good job.

I'm not sure I can watch another season of this show if they do it again. The shameless self promotion by the band and the sickening kumbayah shit when people were sent home were nearly impossible to bear. I had less of a problem with it during the INXS show because I actually liked INXS in their day and it was cool to hear their (old) stuff promoted to a new generation of kids.
My predictive powers, on the other hand, remain intact. I told you it would be either Toby or Lukas.

Supernova sucks (okay, this Supernova sucks; the SF (I think) band that's been using that name for years is, apparently, not bad). Only reason to go to a show would be to see Storm play with the House Band, and then leave before Pornsuave came on.

Has anybody heard Panic Channel? Despite my love of Jane's, I have a hard time taking Navarro seriously.
